Disney Visa change in terms

Well, I guess the Disney Visa is jumping on the bandwagon! I just got my change of terms (only on increased rate for me) that I can accept or not accept (they must be told by the end of Sept) that will go into effect in Nov. I'm concerned based on what happened to WaMu (now Chase Bank) cc holders that had similar change back in May(?) and if they kept it Chase ended closing the account with the higher interest anyway in July!! I pay in full each month, so I'm not that concerned with that, just what Chase really is planning on my account. They also say that any earned promos (disney dollars in this case) would be forfeited if you don't redeem prior to the closing of the accout if you choose to do so. Anyone else get the letter. It came along with the privacy info just to let you know, a seperate mailing.

Did they raise your rate in the Spring too??? Most Disney Visa users saw a 5% jump in their rates in the Spring. Please don't tell me that they are raising them AGAIN

No, they haven't raised my rate, before, I don't think since I opened it. I never pay interest since I pay in full each month or have the zero Disney vacation on it. I just don't like the feel of it all. What happened to the WaMu (now Chase bank) holders in May (letter to raise rate or close) then July (accounts closed by Chase anyway)

If you pay in full each month, a change in rate or payback terms doesn't matter one little bit to you. If you don't mind having that account with them philosophically, it just doesn't matter!

I got this a month or so ago, mine takes effect in October. I cashed in my rewards a couple weeks ago (just got the card on Monday) just in case. I wasn't losing those rewards and I'm not using it because I'm trying to pay it off right now. I did have my Pro/Wa/Chase card closed with no notice, along with many others.

My post right above yours states my reason for concern.

Just what I don't want to have happen to my account I really don't care that much about the rate, but if I keep the card (really want to long time account and pretty high limit) I don't want Chase just closing it anyway!

If your account is no longer open and in good standing, you will not be able to use those rewards even if they have been transferred to a rewards card. If you're concerned about losing those rewards dollars, use them to purchase a gift card on the Disneyland Website.

The GC has no expiration and once you've bought the it, Chase can't take the rewards back just because they cancelled your account.

I got a notice but it was just that they were changing the rate on my overdraft interest and stuff like that. I don't go that high on my accounts so I didn't worry about it.

The fine print on this site says it can be used at select WDW locations. Does anyone know if it is widely accepted at WDW?

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the DisneyGiftcard.com link. Choose the "Shop, Dine, Stay & Play" button on the left side of the new window. It tells you where the GC can be used.

Yes, we used ours in the past at WDW. We even used it to pay for a WDW vacation (part of it) when booking directly with WDW. You pretty much use it like a gift card.

Thanks, disneyfan55. I think you are talking about the rewards card itself? I am thinking it's a really good idea to redeem rewards cards for actual Disney gift cards. I have rewards that expire at the end of this year and this would be a good way to keep them from being taken away OR expiring. :)

I also found the cards at Disney Shopping. Learn something new everyday on the DIS! :thumbsup2

Yes, I'm talking about the rewards card itself. I have used it WDW pretty much anyplace where CC and gift cards are taken. I had no problem. I would just get a gift card with the rewards card if you aren't going to WDW or using it for other disney purchases.

True, you can get them on Disneyshopping.com as well. :thumbsup2 I just like the variety of cards on the DL site better. It's a little thing, I know, but I like being able to choose different designs just for fun.

Thanks for that but we are heading to DL Friday so I think I'll be OK using it over the weekend. :)

My post mentions a philosophical reason, which your second post seems to be saying is the problem...that you don't like the feel of it...

That said, I didn't see your second post (or I didn't know it was you posting it, I rarely look at who is posting what) as I clicked to reply! :)

I hear that having an account closed by you looks better than having a CC company close it, but that's gambling a bit that they will end up closing it.

Why can't I find that button?:confused3:rotfl: Could you post the link to the "Shop, Dine, Stay, & Play" button? Thanks!

I just ordered a $500.00 gift card from the WDW site last week. I just wanted it to use for tips and for the Food & Wine Festval booths for my Sept trip. I'm not big on souvineers and seldom buy them anymore and the trip is of course paid for, plus I have the DxDDP, so I won't be spending hardly any money down there, except for tips and the F&W Festival. I just want to make sure I can use the card for what I bought it for. Otherwise I just wasted $500.00. Over on the theme parks board there is a thread about a PIN for getting a $500.00 gift card for like $365.00, but the conditions say that it may not be used for food, resort rooms, and a bunch of other stuff.
