If you are a cardholder and you call in for the free dining, are you expected to pay the rest of the balance for the trip on the disney visa?? I am a cardholder but do not like to use it. Thanks

I just asked my TA and she said to get the deal, it all has to be paid on the Disney Visa (not just the down payment). No biggie, I'll just pay the cash on the card that I was going to use for the trip...

And don't forget you get 6 months to pay, no interest. I've used this aspect of the deal the past few years. Other than the Disney balance, I pay the rest of my card every month.:goodvibes (and you'll earn disney rewards to boot!)

Do you have 6 months from the time you book or the end of your vacation? Also, do you have to pay the deposit right away or is it considered part of your package and due in 6 months? Thanks for answering this question in advance. It's been bugging me for days and I didn't know where to go to get the answer!

You have 6 months from when the charges post to your card.:thumbsup2 So, you'll have 6 months from when the deposit posts to pay that portion, and then you'll have 6 months from when the balance posts (45 days before your trip)

So, for example, last year I posted by deposit in April (27th) and I had until Oct. 24, 2007 to pay it without being charged interest. Then my balance on the package was due by Jan. 27, 2008. This was posted on July 27, 2007 (45 days from arrival date).

The deposit this year, and last (and maybe further back) was $200.

I think it's a great way to manage your money as long as you know you'll pay if off before the promotional due date. This will be clearly shown on your DV statement. I usually pay it a day, or so, before, online just to make sure.

One thing to know about since when it happened to me a few years back I didn't realize it at the time. If you use your card for other purchases and you return something and get a credit on your account, it will reduce your promotional balance. For example, I had a balance of say, $900 on the Disney portion of my card, I returned some items to Target (bought on the DV) for $50. My promotional balance was reduced to $850. When I called DV to inquire about this they said that this was they way they did it. Just something to be aware of if you use the card to purchase items that you might return.

HTH.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Dizneydaz! You answered everything perfectly and then some....including what the deposit is ($200).

We use our Visa all the time, then get the rewards card updated and the 1% added or 5% for somethings this year (I hope they included) take it the MK and spend it all there. It's like extra free money to go along with the free DDP.

Also, with promotional rates, if you have an existing balance at your regular CC rate, your payment will reduce your promotional balance before it reduces your regular balance. This way the CC company can continue to collect finance charges from you. So it's best to not have much of any balance before adding debt, even if at a promotional rate.

I also never use my Disney Visa. I have had one for 4 years and only use it to book Visa specials and do the visa photo thing in Epcot. I have only ever put a deposit on it to get the promotion offered. I allways pay by other means ( usually just debit the rest).Actually, I have allways paid my deposit with our debit (visa card) and only once have I been asked to put a deposit on the Disney Visa. Usually they just want the 1st 6 digits on the Disney Visa Card to prove that I am a cardholder. I have never been asked for my visa again by a CM when paying off a pkg. or room booked under any Visa promotion. Like Dizneydaz said it does have its benefits and the 6months 0% offers is a help for some.

I see you did the VISA photo thing at Epcot? How is that? Can you tell me about it? We haven't done it yet, but I'd like to do it this trip. Haven't seen much about it. A free picture is always good! Not sure why we haven't taken advantage of this. Thanks!

We did the DV photo thing at Epcot a few weeks back. It was in the Innovations West building. The line wasn't super long but it definitely took some time (almost an hour). The good thing about it was that while DW waited in line, DS12 and DS10 were busy playing xbox360 and playstation 20 feet away, and DS2 and I had to keep ourselves busy elsewhere. :yay: When DW got near the CM, she called me to round up the kids. When I got it line, the CM asked to see my DV. I showed him and then we were ushered in to see Mickey and Pluto - VERY COOL!:cool2: We handed the photo person our photopass card and they took several pics. Afterwards, they handed us a small certificate that entitled us to a free 5x7, which we got later when we left. DW was skeptical when I first told her about it and especially since she had to stand in line and wait, but afterwards, she said it was totally worth it!:thumbsup2

It is so worth it and no pressure to bye anything. We have never waited more than one family for our picture. The cast members are very nice (we have done this 3-4 times). You get in line an show them your Disney Visa. When you go around the corner the characters are waiting for you to have some fun. They are waving, hugging and playing with the kids. You take several pix and you are on you way with your free photo that can be printed at the Epcot photo place in front of the park. We left the rest on our photopass. The characters do rotate some as we have had anywhere as2-4 characters at a time. It is exactly what it says "meet and greet" only more private and more personal. You can do this more than once during your vacation. It is awsome:thumbsup2

Got a Disney Visa last month or so...

My promo says $40 credit after first purchase..a couple of billing cycles to receive credit..

Will I really get the $40 credit?

thx.
:goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks so much about the info on the photo - we'll definitely do it this year and probably kick ourselves for not doing it the last three trips.. :)

Yes, you'll get the $40 immediately. We just got another separate card and it has already been credited. We haven't even gotten a first statement yet.

When we booked on Monday, the cm said we had to pay the deposit w/ the disney visa. But he said we can pay the rest off any way we wanted to (disney visa, other visa, mastercard, etc..). We're gonna use our disney visa though since we get points for disney .

We paid the deposit with the Disney Visa. The CM said we don't have to pay the balance or make payments via the Visa though if we don't want...
