Is this card worth having for a DVC member? It seems like a lot of the discounts DVC members already have.

Also, I couldn't find any information on the value of the rewards. Is it similiar to 1% or 2% cash back?

I find it worthwile, even as a DVC member. I really don't use it for discounts, I use it to earn points. My APR is 12.99%, the chances of getting a rewards credit card with a lower APR are extremely slim these days, so for me it is a great rate. I use it for big purchases- usually vacation related, and pay them off over the year. I have earned hundreds of dollars in rewards since getting the card, and the rewards have paid for numerous meals and souvenirs on our yearly trips.

I agree, I use it primarily for the rewards points. That little card has saved me a ton of money on my Disney vacations. You can use it for pretty much everything. :thumbsup2

I used to use it as my primary credit card and also earned many reward points with it. However I switched to using another card that gives about 1.3% back. So instead of every $10,000 to get a $100 credit I "only" have to spend $7,500 to get $100 credit. That difference really adds up over time. Of course it can't be used on Disney Merchandise, but can be used for any airlines or any rental car agency. So I simply use the credits towards the payment of something else and then use the "savings" toward my Disney trip or whatever trip I may be going on. There is no annual fee. Of course that system may not be for everyone, but it works well for me. :)

I do still have my Disney Visa and like it for other reasons, but have stopped using it as my everyday credit card.

We are "day one" holders of the Disney Visa Card. I use it for everything and pay it off each pay. One trip we had $700 in rewards points (had done some remodeling and paid it on Visa). I usually have around $300-500 rewards dollars on it for our summer trip. We use it for meals.

I use the free family picture at least 2 times on every trip.. probably 4-6 free family 5X7s prints per year, sometimes more. To me that is worth it alone. I get the photo pass and photo book about every other trip, but I come home right away with a few pictures to bring to work. It goes perfect with my CRT, Donald's Safari, and Norway prints :)

I use Amex for all purchase, but if the comapny does not take Amex I use it.. I get maybe 50$ a yr or something in rewards. Amex gives me cash back and more $$ back.

What is the family picture?? I think I missed something!

With a Disney Visa, you get a "Free Family Photo"5X7 print every day. Go to a special spot at Epcot (in Inovations, ask and they can show you). Any day 1:30 - 4.

Then you pick it up 30 mins later or when you leave the park. Go to the Visa web site for more details.

We love our Disney Visa and use the card for EVERTHING. We can really rack up the rewards. The last time we went to get our picture made at the member photo area the line was so long we just skipped it. If we had more time that day it would have not been a problem.

We use our Disney Visa Card wherever we can. I wish Sam's Club would start accepting Visa. Anyway, we use our reward points every year to buy our Annual Pass. This year we will do really good because our Annual Passes were good for an extra 3 months this year, so that gave us extra time to save up more rewards.

Here is more info from the stitchkingdom.com website.

My avatar is from the Visa m&g we did in 2009. It was Minnie, Mickey and Goofy.

To the OP: I also use my card mostly for the rewards points.

I use the rewards to help pay for annual dues. I usually have around $400 by January to apply.

I am a charter member as well. The rewards dollars are nice and we use it for something while on the trip, typically souveniers. Makes it feel like you are getting something for free. When we were avid collectors of pins....the exclusive pis were fun to get and I know they still do that. The discounts are about the same. But they weren't previously.

I love the Disney Visa. It is the only credit card I actually use. We always get the ddp so we use our rewards for adult beverages, vinylmations and other things to bring home with us. Also, we do the Epcot Meet and Greet every trip as well. It's a nice option for people like DH and I, who don't normally wait in long lines for the characters. :thumbsup2

I'm very happy with our Disney Visa. They sent me a promotion back in the beginning of October that if I used the card 4 times in the month of October, November, and December they would give me 10 rewards dollars for that month. Then if I used it 4 times in each month by the end of December they'd give me an extra 20 points. It didn't matter how much the purchases were just as long as I used it 4 times. For us this was very easy since I use it for our everyday stuff. We wound up with an extra 50 points on top of our normal points we earned. I was also happy cause if I bought $10 worth of stuff in october I still got 10 pts. Granted I bought way more then $10 worth of stuff LOL.

I basically use it for the rewards points we earn, but we'll use it for the photo at Epcot and sometimes the extra discounts we get when purchasing stuff in Downtown Disney and online.

I think it is definitely worth it. The reward dollars are dollar for dollar no matter what discount or sale you get while purchasing. As a DVC member, you still have to purchase tickets and maybe DDP.

And you'd be amazed how many times a Nemo card will get you extra friendly service. It can make the grumpiest cashier smile.
