Hello Disney friends!

I was reading through some posts and have seen that some of you have the disney visa card. I do not like to have many credit cards. I do have Discover, Visa and MC but I do not/will not get any credit cards from stores (ie, gap, childrens place, macys, victoria secret, etc...). My question is is it worth it to get the Disney Visa Card? Do you feel like you have gotten special disney benefits from having/using that card? Any input would be appreciated.

So far, not really. We have had ours sine June (or May?) and have earned about 74 Disney Dollars, or whatever they're called. I think the rate that these points or dollars accrue is less than some other Visa cards out there. But still, it's $74 to spend at WDW that I wouldn't otherwise have! I wish we had gotten it sooner so could accumulate a lot more before our trip in June 2009!

I think it's worth it! I was able to get free dining for my trip last week for my husband and I and for my upcoming trip in December with my sisters. :cool1:
I don't like getting/having a lot of credit cards either, but I thought this one was worth it for that benefit alone.

If you're doing any tours, you get a discount! We are doing Dolphins in Depth when we go for our honeymoon and we'll get 20% off! That will save us $60! That's worth it to me! Plus, the disney rewards are a benefit, and you get discounts for other things such as Disney on Broadway in NYC and things like that! It's worth it to have, even if you don't use it often!

We got the disney rewards card for our trip starting in 5 days! We like it because we ONLY use it for Disney related trips and it is 6 months no interest on Disney trips. Plus It saved me over $600 for my December trip with my friend because we got the free dining plan. We are now going to be able to spend an extra day in the park and go to MVMCP with the money we saved on food thanks to visa.

You also save 10% on any purchases at WDW when you use your card there. I just learned that on my recent trip. I also charge EVERYTHING and rack up the points....gas, groceries, even my household bills!!!

I didn't realize that I can get 10% off at WDW! Does that include food? Yeah!
:)

I also don't have alot of credit cards, but my husband and I each have a Disney Visa card(instead of Discover, American Express, etc). We charge alot of things on it, subtract it from our check register as if we'd used a debit card, and then submit one check at the end of the month. Between the two cards we've accumulated over 900.00 in rewards. We only go about every 5 years - and the rewards will begin expiring the same month we have our trip scheduled for.

We do not use the % off for shopping, etc - but we do like to use the Codes that come out associated with the Disney Visa.

I have the card too and it's not bad. It only earns 1%, so not as good as some other cards out there, but we have used it before to get advance notice on free dining (this past August) as well as free dining again this Decemebr, which is not open to anyone but Disney Visa card holders. If we have a trip in the works, we use the card for everything we can to earn the rewards. I am going to use it to pay for DD's college tuition for next semester so that ought to give us tons of rewards!!! If we're not planning another trip anytime soon, I use other, higher paying cards instead.

I think the discount is only at World Of Disney in Downtown Disney.

We don't like to have too many credit cards but we do have the Disney Visa. We don't use it too much, really just for WDW trips (advanced access to free dining and some other promotions) and also to get presale codes on Disney Broadway plays (and discounts on that too), and the free picture at Epcot, discounts at World of Disney in DTD. We like having it.

I don't think it includes food and I think you need to spend a certain amount to get the 10% off. I could be wrong. I tried to get it at a store at DTD, but couldn't get 10% off because my purchase was under $25.00.

I never thought of using the card and subtracting it from the check book register... great idea:thumbsup2
I have been paying a few of our bills with it and writing them a check though. My goal is to have enough rewards for DDs BBB visit. So far I have $40! Not much, but more than I would have had.

another perk of the card is, the card! I get so many compliments on Tink!

We have the Disney Visa. We use it only for Disney trip expenses. The Disney reward dollars are nice, but our dividend card pays 2 ½ times back compared to the Disney Visa and it is cash to be used anywhere for anything. A much better reward. We got it for discounts; we generally do room only so the 0% for 6 months is fairly worthless to us. However, we are doing a package (best discount available for our dates) next week, so we’ll be taking advantage. It’s always a good idea to have your money working for you, especially in this economy.

you only get a discount at the world of disney in downtown if you spend a certain amount. i think that is the only place. we used ours everywhere and not one discount any where else. also it says on the papers we got that you earn points on every dollar and thats not the case either it has to be on over 50 dollars for a point

not necessarily true....you earn 1% on your purchases. Essentially, it's 1 reward dollar for every $100 you charge to the card, but even when you charge less than $100 you have earned 1% on that purchase. At the end of the month, the either round up or round down to the nearest dollar for the rewards. The rewards are calculated on your total amount of charges the whole month. When I have had, say $695 in purchases, I have earned 7 reward dollars that month ($695 in purchases = 6.95 in rewards, rounded up to 7) but if you only charge less than $50 in a month, then they will round down and yes, you will not get any reward dollars that month.
