Got an offer for $200 gift card from Chase Visa. :cool1: Since I already have one, was wondering how to fill out application for our 12 yo daughter. Do I use her ss# and my income?? I know other folks have got their kids cards, but not sure how to fill it out. thanks.

A child can't get one. I have a 17 year old who is currently looking for a student credit card to start building his credit, and he checked into getting a Disney Visa. Unfortunately, you have to be at least 18 to qualify.

Which I guess they probably have that restriction so bunches of people don't open up cards in their kid's names just to get the benefits. That could probably be a bad thing in some situations ;)

Here is the "terms and conditions" link with all the rules...

Other than the fact that you have to be 18 to get a credit card, it's highly unlikely she would get approved since she doesn't have a credit file. It's also highly unscrupulous. She is not of legal age to enter into a binding contract.

People are getting their underage kids credit cards as Authorized Users on their own existing accounts. Not accounts that they are contractually liable for..

Are you sure the other people who got their kids credit cards didn't just add them on to the parents account?

^^This!

I added my kids to my existing CC accounts ( a separate account for each child so I could tell who was abusing the card if there were a lot of charges). They each piggybacked onto an account when they got their driver's license so that they could put gas in the car at the pump and I never had to worry about them getting stranded because they lacked funds.

But none of them could even apply for their own card until they turned 18. And only our oldest (age 23) has her own. Chase is not going to give a CC to a 12 year old!

Thanks everyone. It looks like the folks who got their kids cards either added them to their card, or had 18 yr olds.
