Just a warning (or whatever you want to call it), I took my Disney Visa with me on our trip so that I could charge everything to it and earn even more points. When I went to check in, the card was initially denied. Being that it was the only card I had with me, the heart attack that nearly ensued was BIG! Anyway, all was cleared up with a quick call to Bank One. Appparently they are really tight on the security end of things and they saw the card was being used outside of my home area and that they wanted to confirm that it was me using it. I'm very thakful for the tight security, however those five minutes seemed to last much longer than five minutes!!

Just wanted to warn others so that they don't stress out as much as I did....

I have had that happen to me on a trip before as well. First I thought the cashier was going to tell me my card was stolen and I wasn't the rightful owner. But a quick call to the bank solved everything. Fortunately I remembered my code word.

The same thing happend to me last weekend with my Disney Visa card. We were visiting my parents and went shopping. After the 4th charge, the store had to call Bank One fraud department. It took us around 10 min. to get everthing cleared up. Bank One wanted to know what my last 6 purchases were. I was glad they were on top of things, but we travel a lot and use this card for all purchases and this was the first time this has ever happend to me. I kinda felt like I was back in college and I wasn't sure my card would go thru.

Similar situation happened to me after returning last week from Washington DC. Everything was settled quickly, but it definitely makes me think that I might need to travel with more than one credit card!:D You never know......

How about calling BankOne before a trip to let them know you will be chargingwhile you will in XYZ state ?

I will try it before we go to Hershey, PA this summer.

Maybe it'll help their secuirty program. :)

I was just about to suggest calling the CC company first. I can speak from experience on this one with International travel for work - things go MUCH easier if you call first before the trip ! :earsboy:

hmmm...I went to WDW last month and used my Disney Visa and didn't have a single problem. Guess I was lucky b/c it would have freaked me out a little at first too!

I had the same thing happen to me in April. We were checking out of the Poly and paying our room charge bill ($1200) our card was denied. The CM called bank one and said we couldn't use our card. Well, the whole reason I got the card was to earn Reward Points. Luckily, I had another card we could use since I only usually carry my DV. I called Bank One myself on the way home and was told they were just checking to see if the charges were mine. I told them the CM said we couldn't use the card. Long story short, if your card is ever denied call them yourself. I didn't get any reward dollars for my bill at WDW.

:(

I'll be happy to "prove" who I am when using my card! Several years ago when we were in Florida, I used my Toys R Us Visa in 2 places - one being a restaurant in Sea World where the card left my sight (never gave that a thought before.....) Home about a month, my phone rings and a man identifies himself as being from Chase's Fraud Dept. My 1st thought was that HE was a scam, but he NEVER asked me for any personal info. He asked me to check and make sure I had possession of my CC so they would know it was stolen - I had it; then he told me that there were 2 charges being made right at that moment using my name & card #. Neither of the purchases were large, but the fact that one was being used in Miami at the same time another was being used in Orlando raised the red flag. My account was immediately closed, a new card # issued and I never suffered any financial loss. My card had been manufactured, evidently at least 2 copies made, and the Chase Rep said that whoever did it must have done a good job because the cards were being read electronically without any problems. So much fraud out there. Such a shame.

The same thing happened to us 2 weeks ago on vacation in Ireland (card was denied), but only once and we used it several times before and after that time??? We just used our AMEX instead. Then this week I got a letter from Bank One asking me to call an 800 # to verify some charges. I did and they were all correct. I'm glad they're vigilant about fraud, though!
