The 2011 Unofficial Guide indicates that Disney Rewards Visa cardholders may get a couple of days advance notice before a public discount is announced. I've been a Disney Visa cardholder since the thing was introduced, and I don't recall ever receiving advance notice of a discount. The book suggests going to the Disney Visa website for details, but I don't see anything there.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

If you go to disneyrewards.com , they have a "cardmember offers" tab. That is where they will list current discounts. For instance, the current free dining offer that is available right now was first released to Disney Visa holders on a Friday and then released to the gneral public a few days later, on Monday. We don't get EVERY offer early, but a lot of them.

Thanks! I guess I should just keep checking there; sounds like there is no way to get an advance email notification or similar. I've booked a late Nov./early Dec. trip and am crossing my fingers for some sort of discount.

Yes, I usually hear about it here first - and I do usually get an email, but not first!

These Disney visa discounts have not been so great in the past year or so!

yup, in 2011 we got kids stay play and eat free in JULY - I don't think this one even ever got out to the public. We've had others though that we did get a few days early.

It varies. But never expect to get an email... Usually details get posted here first and on the DVR site.

It varies... Sometimes it's an offer only for card members, or sometimes it's a week earlier than general offers.

Sure... I can't enumerate all the instances, but pretty much every time Disney offers a discount Visa will shoot cardmembers notice about it 3-7 days in advance. I get emails.

I've been a cardholder for many years and have never received any type of advance notice. :rolleyes1

FYI, Debit Cards Users (which included me)

Important: Chase is making changes to its debit cards, including your Disney RewardsSM Visa® Debit Card. As of July 12, 2011, you no longer earn Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM when you make purchases with your Disney Rewards Debit Card.

This is a bummer but atleast I got 2 years of use and 25 points towards my December trip.

Yes, for debit cards only. If you have the Disney CC from Chase...you'll see no changes....for now....

well if the cc changes, we'll be long gone with that card, as I am quite sure will many others.......;)

I am a charter member of Disney Visa & have never received an email. Maybe they didn't have the email notification of discounts available when the card 1st came out so people who signed up early aren't included in the emails. I don't know.

Had to check my card. :goodvibes I am a charter member too (since 2003). I don't know why I get the notices when others do not. :confused3

I'm not a card member, but I have been watching this thread to see if you guys get a code - sometimes you get one before the GP comes out.

Just a note to those not getting emails - you may just need to adjust your communication preferences with the card company.

How do you do that? I added various notifications, etc. and get those, but not the offer e-mails.

I am a charter member also and always receive the notices. I think you need to make sure you are signed up to receive e-mails from them. I get the notices from e-mail first then a few days later I get them snail mail. Also get the ones for bonus points the same way.
