Disney Visa 5X Awards

OK, this is now the third time I've signed up for the Disney Visa 5 times award program (it's a mailer I get with a pin number to sign up, you must already be a card holder), that awards points at 5x the normal rate once you surpass a certain amount (I think it's $1200) in certain catagories (food, travel, etc).

Finally, I made it over the threshold... I earned a whopping $1 on the 5x program That's the first time in 3 tries I've earned anything extra over the normal. There's months I've wondered how I didn't make the 5x bonus, but nope it never happened.

Tell me about your Disney Visa 5X bonus program success. Can anybody beat $1?

Wow! Last time I was in it my threshold was $500. This happened to coincide with my job relocation so I charged meals plane tickets, gas, etc for about 2 months - thousands of dollars - and did good with the 5x rewards. This time it's $750 and my dime, so it's not really rolling in Oh well

I don't bother when the threshold is that high. I have had it as low as $100, or $500. Our grocery store sells gift cards for all sorts of stores, restaurants, airlines, hotels, so I usually buy a bunch when I get the 5x rewards.

On the last two promotions we earned $84 and $148, respectively. So apparently they felt we needed a higher threshold (they were $500 both times previously) and bumped us to $1K this time. We definitely won't be meeting that!!

Dh says if we don't meet it this time, maybe they'll lower our threshold back to something reasonable next time!

Heh. I got 5 points. My limit was a little lower this time (900?). I need to verify this, but I believe my grocery store is not considered a grocery store in their classification system.

I got 18 points extra. I didn't change any spending habits though to get that, so I figure...that's an extra CS meal!

I can't ever touch the threshold on our joint account it is always after something insane like $5000. Right, like that is going to happen, especially since it is limited to the categories and not like if I had a huge car repair or something! Anyway, my "little" account got an offer for gas only with no threshhold for Oct., Nov. and Dec. I did ok with that maybe earned $20 extra total. Just before that expired I got one for Jan, Feb. March for more categories and a $250 threshold--again do able since airfare is one and I have flights to buy for summer vacation! Otherwise I don't even bother with them since for us it seems like a joke. I guess I get it for the card I don't use because well, I don't use it unless I charge some kind of 6 month interest free cruise payments, vacation or book a new cruise or buy more DVC points. Otherwise it just sits there looking all sparkly (gold castle one)!

I've not gotten any kind of visa offer with them since we've had them Over a year and not one offer for things like that. Still I think it's one of our lowest limit cards, maybe 1500.00.....so with a 1000 threshold we'd not have that much to work with anyway LOL

I just got a 5X offer..it says $500 in each category...
I took that to mean after $500 in gas or $500 in groceries ect...
But it also says monthly totals...
I don't spend $500 a month in gas or food...
Not much of a deal for me...

we have had the card for over 5 years and have never seen that offer. Does it come with your statement? Do you have to sign up?

I finally received 40 bonus dollars in my last statement. It does not appear right away.

This is what our invitation said,

Watch how fast your DDRDs can add up! For every eligible dollar you spend above $500 each month, in any single category or combination of those listed above, you'll accumulate Disney Dream Reward Dollars at 5x the regular rate! But first, be sure to enroll by calling the number or logging on to the website below.

There is an enrollment code. Our categories are dining, groceries, gas and airlines.

Yep. I think my July-September points just showed up. Either that or my October-December points were just posted and I didn't earn any extra in July-September. I am hoping it is the former.

We got one for Oct. Nov. Dec. (don't remember the threshold) and since we knew we were going to WDW the end of January, we signed up for it and put all the Christmas shopping on it. We charge every bill we can (on top of groceries and gas) and then pay it off each month. We just recently received the one for gas for Jan. Feb. March (no threshold) so we will continue to use it for just gas through the end of March. Then we'll go back to our "cash back" Chase and Citi cards.~~

I also prefer the cash back cards but we are also going in Jan and used the card Sept, Oct , Nov. My threshhold was $250. I think I made about $30 on Sept. My next statement comes out while we are there so I plan to call and hopefully, transfer some more $ to spend while we are there.

I never carry a balance, but as of Sept. have never used the card before. Maybe they just have not figured that out?

We pay off our balance each week, but the 5x offer we recieved was some unrealisticly high figur ethat we had to spend to qualify for the 5x points.

I pay my balance in full each month - sometimes I don't even wait for the bill. As soon as I see it posted on-line, I go to the bank and make my payment.
