Did anyone get this deal? I swear I saw that if I add a cardholder and they make one purchase I will get $50 gift card but now I can't find it! Can anyone help?

I've seen the deal, not sure where though. Just FYI, this will show up on their credit report. I was made an authorized user on a Disney Visa and it shows up in my credit report. It almost prevented me from being able to open a Chase Sapphire Reserve card because the 5 credit cards in 24 months equals automatic decline rule. 3 phone calls later I was able to get them to remove the authorized user account from their consideration and was approved. However, I know it actively reports on my credit report because when the credit line was dropped by 10K on that card there was an observation from credit karma that Chase dropped my credit line 10K, even though it was on a AU card I have no control over. I have no idea if it impacts credit scores but it definitely has the potential to impact their credit card opening ability if they bump up against 5/24.

I had trouble with Chase too trying to get approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve due to me being at 5/24 with one of those as an AU on my son's JetBlue Amex. I was eventually approved for the card (three phone calls later), but it made me question why I would ever want to be an AU on anyone's card in the future, if it means I'll potentially miss out on some good sign-up bonuses. I'm trying to be very strategic with my credit card opening these days.

Yes I got the same offer. I called and they said the AU does not have to make a purchase because their card will be the same number, exp, security code, etc. Would be no way to tell if the AU user made the charge or you. My AU is still making a charge just in case though.

Where did you see this? Was it a targeted offer? I just added my son about a month ago and would like to know if I could call them about this.

This was targeted directly to me in the mail. Had to key in a special code on the application.

I will say that I applied less than a month ago and I already got my $250 Disney gift card! It was really fast!

Yes, we got that offer last late summer. I opened up the Disney Visa card just to get the gift cards. Then after a month, I added my wife to the account. She got her own card and we got an extra $50 gift card.

Love it. I plan to not use it much. The 1% isn't a big reward to me. I get more in other cards. I'm going to use the card for the discounts, character greets, etc.

That's what we did. We used it to get the $250 in gift cards and then used it only in the park for merchandise and for the M&G.

Wouldn't it save more money to get a Disney gift card from target, using your red card with the 5% discount, over using the disney credit card while at Disney?

It depends. Buying a Disney gift card at target saves you $5 when purchasing a $100 gift card. Using your Disney Chase Visa would save you $10 on your $100 dinner at Boma for example. There are more perks than just the 1% rewards you get when charging. 10% off some dinning, 20% off of spa services, etc.

Do you have to mention the discount or does it automatically happen?

On Disney Cruise Line it is automatic but in the parks you have to mention it. I always do just to make sure I get it. It comes off instantly so you're not waiting until your next statement to see the savings. You also save on tickets to broadway shows in new york like lion king, aladdin, and the upcoming frozen musical.
