I've heard from several people that if you add more money to your final payment (for things like tips) that the extra. money is part of the 0% interest for 6 months on the Disney Visa. My TA added an extra amount but did it via the amenities package. Do you think this will get the 0% interest for 6 months? I'm afraid it won't.

TIA

Anything you purchase with the Disney VISA card pre-cruise will get the 6 months 0% interest. So, yes, purchasing onboard credit via the amenities packages will fall under that.

Thanks for the info. I am going to pre pay my tips before my cruise on Wednesday.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I do not know the answer to this question:

Does the 0%/6-month deal apply only if you pay for the entire cruise with your Disney Visa? Or could you, say, use the card for your deposit, get the six months of no interest, and then pay the cruise balance via some other means (e.g., Disney Gift Cards)?

As far as I know, whatever you charge pre-cruise counts on the 6 mo/0% deal. Doesn't have to be the full payment, IMO.

Thx. Isn’t (wasn’t?) there something, though, attached to the Disney Visa where you have to pay for the entire cruise with the card to get the perk? The $50 drink credit, maybe?

Paying the deposit with a Disney Visa gets the 6 months no interest on the deposit. (This applies even for future cruises booked onboard, since they are charged separately and not as part of an onboard account.) If you make another payment with a Disney Visa, the 6 months for that payment starts when it is made, so it is possible to have multiple charges at no interest for different periods of time. This is shown clearly on the credit card statements. If you pay more than your new charges in a month, the excess payment will be applied to the oldest “no interest” charge first. I have had 2 or 3 separate charges listed on my statement.

In order to get the onboard perks — currently, 10% off most purchases of $50 or more in shops, 20% off select port-day spa treatments, 10% off select photo packages, and 10% Castaway Cay Getaway packages — you must put your Disney Visa on file for onboard charges at check-in. You can, however, go to Guest Services to make payments toward your onboard account using gift cards or Reward cards, as long as you leave your credit card on file.

In the past, it may have been necessary to pay for the entire cruise with a Disney Visa to get perks, such as onboard credits, that were delivered at the beginning of the cruise.

Thanks. I rarely use this card, but it is good to be reminded of this particular perk.

Yes, there was a promotion a couple of years ago (?) that, if you used your Disney VISA to pay for the whole cruise, you'd get a drink credit.

Yes, you remember correctly. That was the OBC offer that then became a “drink credit” and has since been discontinued. PPs are correct that each individual payment qualifies for the zero-interest offer. And/or you can list your Disney Visa to backup your onboard account and be rligible for certain onboard discounts.

Enjoy your cruise!
