Disney Vacay with the Love Bugs (New 6/23 update ~ Chef Mickeys)

Ok I'm all caught up, I got like 10 pages behind :scared1:

GG looks like fun. Sorry about your TSM tiff, but glad it was over by the time you got off the ride.

So glad Sci Fi had a ressie open for you, we really enjoyed it on our honeymoon and after your review I think I might try it with our kids next time we head to WDW.

Loving all the pictures, can't wait to read and see more

Great update :thumbsup2 I always laugh when I see that they ask people at Sci Fi if they want to wait to sit in a car :rotfl2: Seriously, why do they think people come there??? :rotfl2:

Oh...and while they do have a "Western" side to the GMR, I think they almost never run it.

We get the Cowboy on the GMR about every other time we ride it. If you're in the first set of cars, you get the cowboy. If you're in the second set of cars, you get the gangster. When we rode the GMR during EMH, they were only running the gangster car...the first set of cars was completely empty.

I am so glad that it worked out that you were able to go to Sci-Fi. The pasta dish looks awesome. Did it taste as good as it looks?

Love your experience with the green army guy! That is so funny that Levi tried to sneak a peek in his pouch. I guess he paid for it!

I showed my girls pics of sci fi when I booked it. It instantly became their favorite before they ever stepped inside.

I love that you were tricked by the green army man!

I hope the adults had a great get away!

great update! I'm so glad to hear you liked sci-fi...it's one of my favorites! Madison didn't really like it because some of the movie clips scared her a little bit.

i imagine some of the clips could scare younger kids.
Lexi & levi kept wanting to see the whole movie instead of just the clips.

the backlot tour used to be so much better than it is now....a lot longer and more interesting. I can't believe you had never done the gmr!!!

on our previous dhs we were only in that park for 1/2 day so we did not do a lot. I think we only did like 3 rides, but we watched a couple of parades & that took away from our time.
This trip was nice in that we did a lot more.

we like both the cowboy and the gangster, but the cowboy is our favorite.

gmr was pretty cool. I've heard several people say that they like the cowboy side the best. On our next trip maybe i will ask if we can do that side.

well worth the wait for the car table at scifi! :)

hope you had tons of fun on your couples weekend!

the car table was definitely worth the wait!

Our couples weekend was great! This past weekend i went on a 'girls weekend trip'. I'm ready to stay home for a change, but i do not think that is going to happen, we stay too busy here!

glad you liked sci fi! That is one of our favorites, we eat there for lunch every trip. That is so funny about the green army men. It would have made me scream as well.

i'm pretty sure we will be eating at sci-fi from now on every trip too.

We probably made army man's day since we were niave enough to fall for his trick!

oh come on, admit it. You really were lost, weren't you? ;)

couldn't fool you, could i? ;) we did stay pretty lost in that park.

We really liked sci-fi too. My wife definitely wants to go back there.

it's very cute. Judy has good taste

love the pic of you guys in the car at sci-fi and how you and lexi have the same expression and have your head held the same way! :goodvibes

i had to back & look at our picture when i read your post. You're right, we are posed alike! Thanks for pointing that out to me, i'll have to show lexi!

Your kids are SO cute. Like all of these pictures are absolutely adorable.

And your review made me want to go to Sci Fi! I haven't been there since I was 12 and I only went one time. The atmosphere is super cool! Did you like that pasta dish? It looks kind of good actually haha

Also, about the people sewing all of the costumes... I went on this one tour for my 16th birthday in Disney and it was an all day tour.. I think it was called Backstage Magic or something. But they actually took us to where they were creating the costumes and showed us how they designed them. And it was probably the COOLEST thing I've ever seen. It made me wish I could sew because I would love to have that job.

They also showed us the "cast only" area of the Magic Kingdom (the "tunnels") and where the ride vehicles are created, and on the stage of the American Adventure and the technical area of Tower of Terror. Best day ever.

You have to be 16 when you go on that tour, but if either of your kids are really obsessed with Disney at that age, you should take them. Because that tour was unbelievable. I couldn't believe all of the cool stuff that happens behind the scenes. And I feel like you'd enjoy it if you liked that little sneak peak at the sewing area.

Wonderful update :) Can't wait till the next one! :yay:

That sounds like a cool tour to go on. I will check into that once the twins are old enough. Thanks for letting me know!

You need to go back to Sci-Fi. You could've had some cute pics made in one of those cars!

you know the last time i went on the great movie ride, we had the gangster scene, where we had always had the western one in the past...i told the wife that they redid the ride...it wasnt until recentely that i have seen people talk about two versions of the ride, that i realized we finally got the other version on that trip...

that army guy interaction is great, i love when stuff like that happens.

i would do that all day if i was one of those army guys...

I know, wouldn't that be cool to have a job where you could just mess with people all and get paid for it!!!!!!!

I'm glad you waited for a car-- I feel like that's the whole point of eating at Sci Fi! Your food looks really good, too!
We love GMR-- so great to see all of the film clips at the end! The Wizard of Oz scene is great too, of course!

I know, that is the whole point of the restaurant is eating in the cars. I didn't care what the food tasted like:laughing: But, the food was really good. My dish was so big, especially for lunch. I think 2 people could share it.

I love Wizard of Oz. I remember being scared to death & having nightmares of those flying monkeys when I was little!

Great update. :thumbsup2

That is so cute that your kids loved eating at SciFi. I guess they are in the perfect age to enjoy it. I am going to wait until Beatriz is older to make my way over there. ;)

The picture of your daughter on the car outside is probably one of my favorites.

That is so funny about the green army man. I had never seen something like that at Disney. I think I would have screamed too.

Can't wait to read more.

Hi! Joining In! popcorn:: A little late, but I'm all caught up thanks to your chapter links. :thumbsup2

You have a beautiful family! I'm glad everyone enjoyed Sci Fi! I think it's a fun place to eat. Can't wait to read more!

i love the update.

Sci fi is definitely a unique dinning experience. Very cool that you surprised the kids with it!

we really loved it. Last time we went to 50's prime time. I liked 50's too, but sci-fi just seemed more cooler.

i didn't realize the gmr had two versions. Every time i have ever gone on it it was gangster...

it seems most people talk about the gangster side. I wish someone had pics of the western side.

and your experience with the green army guy.... :rotfl:

he did get us! :rolleyes1

man, do i love the sci-fi! Our dd doesn't want to go next trip because she finds the clips to "scary". Oh please! Anyways, i was a chicken at her age too, so we're gonna give 50's prime time a try, but i love sitting in the car watching those old movie clips. I've seen most of those movies (not the originals, but on myster science theatre 3000) so watching the trailers is a hoot. Plus they have one of the absolute best desserts in all of wdw - the orea milkshake. And if you are looking for extra sweets and are on the ddp - you can order the milkshake as your drink, and still order dessert!

i remember watching mystery science theatre when i was little & being scared to death!

We like 50's too. It will be hard to pick which one we will go to the next time, but i think sci-fi will win out.

We were on the ddp, but we were so full from all the food, we just ordered them for our desserts. The oreo shake was the best!!!!!

dw and my first ever experience together at wdw (back in 1997) was with the green army men. They used to hang outside the entrance of dhs (then mgm) and stay still and scare people. Nowadays, they don't usually seem to do that. Glad they surprised your kids!

i'm sure it made his day to find some gullible visitors that had not seen the green army man before!

oh...and while they do have a "western" side to the gmr, i think they almost never run it.

too bad
skierpete

great update!!! :yay: Your kids are just too cute! :)

thanks!

i love sci-fi!!! I need to get back there soon i miss it!! :(

you should get back! So cute & neat eating in the cars!

that "lost" pic is so adorable! Lexi seems super creative! :thumbsup2

thanks! I think she was getting the hang of taking some creative pictures by the end of the week. One day she'll have a bunch of really creative pics like you & your friends! :)

i love the army man story! They do look just like toys!!!! So props to disney for that! :thumbsup2

so true, i don't see how they stand so still. We stood there in front of him a few minutes talking & debating on whether he was real or not. I thought i would see him move a little if he was real, but he never did at all. So, he did a great job fooling us.

can't wait for more!popcorn::

great update!!!

I always loved sci fi as a kid!! Your pasta looks awesome! I don't remember when the last time it was that i ate there but we've always had good meals there but super slow service which is a turn-off :( when you've seen the clips 3x in one meal it's a bit long haha. Those cars are pretty awesome!

the pasta dish was good. It was so large it could be split between two people. I only could eat 1/2.

We did see the same clips about the growing woman, can't think of the name of the movie, it seemed about 10x!!!

ok i'm all caught up, i got like 10 pages behind :scared1:

it's so easy to get behind! I'm staying especially busy these days. It seems like we are having so much homework & test that i zero extra time!

gg looks like fun. Sorry about your tsm tiff, but glad it was over by the time you got off the ride.

gg is a very fun restaurant, if you have never been you need to try.
And, i am so thankful that we got over our argument that fast. It would have stunk being upset at wdw!

so glad sci fi had a ressie open for you, we really enjoyed it on our honeymoon and after your review i think i might try it with our kids next time we head to wdw.

you need to take them!

loving all the pictures, can't wait to read and see more

thanks!

great update :thumbsup2 i always laugh when i see that they ask people at sci fi if they want to wait to sit in a car :rotfl2: Seriously, why do they think people come there??? :rotfl2:

i know, like right! I felt sorry for families sitting in the flying saucers eating. They probably didn't know any better when they agreed to that!

i am so glad that it worked out that you were able to go to sci-fi. The pasta dish looks awesome. Did it taste as good as it looks?

the pasta dish was very good, & very large portion. I was only able to eat 1/2.

love your experience with the green army guy! That is so funny that levi tried to sneak a peek in his pouch. I guess he paid for it!

i know, i loved the army mans timing!

i showed my girls pics of sci fi when i booked it. It instantly became their favorite before they ever stepped inside.

it is a very cool restaurant. And, i imagine from a child's view, it would even be 10x cooler!

i love that you were tricked by the green army man!

he did trick us good! It was a fun moment for us!

i hope the adults had a great get away!

we had a great couples weenend away. Then, this past weekend, i had a girls weekend away. I would love to just stay home this weekend & do nothing, but with kids, that's not going to happen!

Hi Amy! Long time lurker but I figured it was time to officially join in the fun! :)

Nice update! We still haven't tried Sci-Fi! The boys just love 50's PT too much so we always end up there! That is the one place they always ask if we have ressies for.

So funny the interaction with the Green Army Guy!!! :rotfl:

So where is this Myrtle Beach place you mentioned??? Doesn't look like it gets very many visitors so it must not be very popular, but it does sound like you had some fun there.........

Hello, I have been looking at some TRs from last September as we will be visiting for the first time in Sept this year. I came across your TR and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it so far :thumbsup2

You look great on your 40th birthday. If I look that good when I'm 40 I will be super happy! Also you have a beautiful family - love that the twins sneaked in some PP pics without you knowing :thumbsup2

All the character interactions sound great - love the Minnie Mouse one with Lexi and the Chip'n'Dale one with Levi :cool1: I also liked your red Mickey shirt on your Epcot day - where did you get it from?

I enjoyed reading about the Phone Booth pranks and I've read numerous TSMM horror stories - your right there needs to be more variety and then everyone would not stampede towards the same ride.

I'm sure there are other things I thought of whilst reading but have forgotten them now  Yay on getting the Sci fi ressie - looks like you all had fun! Am subbing and looking forward to reading more about your trip :goodvibes

great update. :thumbsup2

that is so cute that your kids loved eating at scifi. I guess they are in the perfect age to enjoy it. I am going to wait until beatriz is older to make my way over there. ;)

i think beatriz would love it in a few years. You can't get too much cooler than sitting in car eating & watching wierd film clips!

the picture of your daughter on the car outside is probably one of my favorites.

thanks, it's one of my favorite too. I loved that i was able to catch her on camera jumping out of the car.

that is so funny about the green army man. I had never seen something like that at disney. I think i would have screamed too.

if you ever do see one, send beatriz over to him to pose w/him! ;)

can't wait to read more.

Hello there! Awesome trip report so far. You have such a beautiful family!
Can't wait for more!

LOVE that interaction with the Green Army Man! :rotfl:

I'm glad you finally camed out of lurkdum, you've been missed :cutie:

We've been to 50's before & we liked it also. You really should try Sci-Fi sometime though. Maybe you can fit both into one of your trips.

Hello, I have been looking at some TRs from last September as we will be visiting for the first time in Sept this year. I came across your TR and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it so far :thumbsup2

You are going to LOVE going in Sept.
There are NO crowds at all! Just prepare for humidity!

You look great on your 40th birthday. If I look that good when I'm 40 I will be super happy!

aww, you're my new BFF!

Also you have a beautiful family - love that the twins sneaked in some PP pics without you knowing :thumbsup2

Thanks!

All the character interactions sound great - love the Minnie Mouse one with Lexi and the Chip'n'Dale one with Levi :cool1: I also liked your red Mickey shirt on your Epcot day - where did you get it from?

Thanks, those are some of my top pics too.

My shirt came from Wally-World (Wal-Mart). I like their WDW shirts because the material is thinner & more comfortable for the heat.

I enjoyed reading about the Phone Booth pranks and I've read numerous TSMM horror stories - your right there needs to be more variety and then everyone would not stampede towards the same ride.

Sci Fi is such a fun place to eat.:thumbsup2 That Oreo milkshake is sooo yummy!

:laughing:That green army man really got Levi. Great timing on his part!

I just noticed this past weekend that Jack-in-the-box has a mint Oreo milkshake. I will have to go this weekend to get one!!!!

Hello there! Awesome trip report so far. You have such a beautiful family!
Can't wait for more!

Hello! :wave2: And, thanks for the compliments!

LOVE that interaction with the Green Army Man! :rotfl:

What fun at Sci Fi too - isnt' that such a neat restaurant? Their shakes are yummmmmmmmmy!

The Green Army man was fun!

Our Sci-Fi milkshake was very good.
I am totally addicted to shakes. I've been addicted to Chick-fil-A's Mint Chocolate Chip shake for about a year now.
Then, this weekend I noticed that Jack-in-a-Box has a Mint Oreo Milkshake. I can't wait to try it!

just read your trip report fantastic! LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE!!!! :goodvibes

Welcome & thanks for saying hi!
