Hi all, was wondering if any fellow DVCers have used this account to pay for their park tickets and dining plan? :confused3

We don't buy the dining plan, but I did look into it to see if it could be used to pay for room charges. It can't. :( Only things you pay for up front from CRO.

I'm not sure if DVC Member Services can even use it.

We have our own Disney savings account at our credit union. We have money direct deposited to pay for our dues and all Disney expenses.

What I was really hoping for was a way to consolidate Disney gift cards. But there's no way to use the Disney Vacation Account to pay incidentals. So, it's back to taking a stack of gift cards down to the front desk.

As you know Disney's goal with gift cards isn't to save us money, it's to make them more money. They could give us a way to consolidated cards but they want using multiple cards to be a challenge.

The gift card program is designed for the occasional card use not for guests buying 10, 20, 30 or more cards at a discount. If they wanted to make things easier they would offer cards where the seller could set the value at the time of sale, ie $1000 per card.

@kphamousbr, Did you call member services to pay for dining plan? Did they have any problems taking the funds from Disney vacation account?

Tell them you are paying with a Disney Gift Card and give them the 2 part DVA account number. The DVA works just like a Disney Gift Card for payment, so DVC doesn't need to know you are actually using the DVA.

Thank you! Did not know it worked like a gift card...:thumbsup2

If your DVA # works just like a Disney Gift Card it would be interesting to see if you could get a front desk CM to manually enter this number to pay for your room chargers.

They do have cards that are loadable to at least $500 - I've purchased a bunch of them at Kroger when it's 4x fuel points. That is making life much easier than trekking the stack of $50s.

There's a Disney Gift Card Deals thread (I'm mobile so I can't link it) where someone is going to experiment with using their DVA to pay for room charges. They believe that if the CM uses the DVA number as a gift card then it will work. I'm following along to see how it turns out.

Thanks danielle, let us know what happens.....Laura

I have a DVA setup for a cruise next May. I'm using my Costco Amex card to fund the account and those transactions are coded as Travel, so I get 2% in rewards. Plus a $20 Disney Gift Card for each $1000 spent using the DVA.

We don't purchase a dining plan and our passes are on the FL Resident payment plan.

That's a great idea. I have a green Amex card I wonder if I can get 2% in rewards.
