I just returned from Disney last week :cloud9: , and I saw alot about buying into the DVC. I was considering it and was wondering what other peoples expereince had been with it. Any details good or bad are appreciated! :cool1:

I have owned DVC at the Boardwalk and Beach club villas since 2000 and consider it among the best decisions I have ever made (along with marring DH and career choices!) I highly recommend it to ANY one who will be visiting Disney at least once every two years.

Prior to our DVC purchase we were staying in Value resorts and Moderate resorts and occasionally off site. I had always wanted to say in a Deluxe resort, but was never able to spend the money for our accomadations.

You might want to spend some time over at the DVC boards, just to get a feel for how happy most people are with thier purchases.

Good Luck with your decision :flower:

There is a DIS board forum dedicated solely to DVC. Check it out and it should be able to answer all your questions about DVC.

We bought in March 2003. We haven't regretted our decision one bit. We first looked into the Boardwalk Villas on our honeymoon in 1999. We LOVED it but just didn't feel we could do it then. Took us until March 2003 to finally take the plunge and we couldn't be happier with our decision.

Check out the DVC boards.

First bought DVC 6 years ago...my first contract I bought straight from disney the next 2 I purchased through resale...I love DVC for the above mentioned reasons...we used to stay value/moderate and now we stay deluxe. Boardwalk is my home resort and I absolutely love it...Best thing I ever did....definately recommend the dvc board....are spending time doing the timeshare sales pitch...it is very low pressure....

Head on over to the DVC community board here on the DIS for more info. We bought into BCVs 3 years ago, did an add on a few months later and just did another 120 pt add on at SSR. Our only regret was we didn't do it sooner when we toured the original DVC now OKW.

We love it!

I bought 170 with resale back in 2001 and then another 100 through Disney and it's been great!

I would never have been able to afford deluxe otherwise. Now I've had some wonderful, dream vacations in amazing accomodations that wouldn't have happened otherwise.

We've also been able to enjoy DVC with family too.

It's a personal decision based upon whether or not you believe you can afford it and get your money's worth out of it. In general, if you travel to WDW at least once every year (or once every two years at a bare minimum), then in the long run it's probably a good deal for you if the price is right. The DVC forum, as others have mentioned, is a great place to get further info. As for me, my DW, and DD? We love it. Pulling up to the security gate and having the CM say, "Welcome Home" is a pretty neat feeling that is hard to explain.

Just closed and first time home in May...I did extensive research before purchasing and have had no buyer's remorse.

Make sure you do your homework. No impulse buying! If you have looked at any other 'timeshare' you must have realized that DIsney is the only one that increases in price after purchase (so far.) Most timeshares are like new cars...drive em off the lot and watch the resale value drop by half. Not so (so far) wtih Disney.

And it IS a great feeling to be 'welcomed home' by the wonderful DVC owners on this board!!!!

We're very happy with our SSR from Disney and BWV resale. In addition to all that's said above, it forces us to schedule and actually GO on vacation because of the large investment. My workaholic husband won't walk away from all those points so we actually get to relax twice to three times each year. :flower: Being able to share it with family and friends is frosting on the cake.

It is definately worth it if you plan on visiting Disney at least every 2 years. We joined in 2002 and feel it was one of the best decisions we ever made! So far using our DVC points we've stayed at BCV, BWV & SSR, places we could not afford to pay cash for, and for our next vacation coming up soon we are using our points to stay at BCV again and also AKL. We are also planning a trip for the summer of 2006 for HH. I think half the fun of DVC is staying at all the different resorts!! Good Luck with you're decision! :)

The thing that I love the most about DVC is the flexibility. We can go and get a studio, one bedroom, two bedroom or Grand Villa whenever we choose as long as they are available. How far our "points" go is totally up to us and our vacation plans for the year. I am a frugral person, and didn't really think that DVC would work for us since we were not Deluxe resort stayers (only staying in moderates when we had an annual pass discount and perfectly happy with Values), but the first trip that we took a couple of weeks ago has immediately shown me the difference between those types of vacation and truly resort vacationing. We know we will be back often and it has taken some of the edge off the comando park style. We enjoyed so wonderful swimming facilities (and could have gone to other resorts to try theirs as well - pool hoiping priviledges - if we had wanted). Its just a different atmosphere and a different place.

I did all the math, did it again and finally figured that adding in inflation for the next many moons (we bought into Saratoga, so have about 49 years left), there is no way we could stay at the Value resorts for even a fraction of what our now "deluxe" accomidations are costing us.

The sales is LOW LOW LOW pressure, so if you are interested, call them. They will answer your questions and not bug you again if you don't buy. Its a wonderful system. There are also tons of resales on the market (where you can buy in for less than the 150 points that Disney requires) and its good to check those out as well.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I see my post got moved, which was good because now I know where to come and do all my research! Thanks again for your help. :cool1:
