I am not sure if this can be done as I only know a little bit about the Disney Vacation Club, however wouldn't it be great if the cruise was your home???

For instance - instead of say the Beach Club being your 'home' the DCL was your home.

This would make me want to join the DVC.

Anyone else out there that would like this?

It would be nice but it can't be done. :(

We joined DVC while on the cruise and VWL is our 'home'. You could make sure you buy enough points to cruise but they keep increasing the amount needed to cruise every year. From what I know DCL and DVC are considered totally separate.

Well technically it could be done...but I don't think it ever will. It wouldn't be practical. It would leave open staterooms and such with banking/borrowing points. Technical stuff you know...;)

If you want to use DVC points for cruising, just make sure you buy enough points to cruise. We have cruised on points one time, and will be using points again next year to cruise. I love it!

SueEllen I don't think it could be done suppose the ship sunk. What would happen to those DVC'er who call it home? Would they be homeless???? LOL
We too bought in while on the Magic. The cruises are what convinced DH to buy. We've only cruised once with points.

hehehehehe

No different than if a hurricane came and took out a resort. Possible, but almost completely unlikely.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to "own" a part of the Disney Cruiseline though?

You all hit the nail on *my* head. I"ve been dreaming of this since our first trip on the Magic in 2001. We added on during that trip at VWL to have the extra points for cruising. Maybe the members cruise is just the start of something. You know, testing the "waters".!;)

We have twice cruised on points (actually bought more points this year so we can do this more frequently), but learned something we did not know. Suppose you have a family of 4 - you can use your points to pay for 3 of the cruisers and pay for the 4th. We did not know it was possible to "mix" a reservation - certainly opens door for more possiblities. How many points would you need to be able to cruise 52 weeks a year?

This sounds like something Disney could definitely get into. They could do something like port side is for DCL-DVC and the starboard side is for all other guests - or they could just build another ship.

I was considering joining the DVC but I felt that you are just getting your hotel with that deal, you still have to purchase food and park passes (if you so choose). The DCL-DVC I would probably purchase just because "MOSTLY everything is included".

I wonder if Disney has ever considered this - that would be something I would like to know.

Thanks for the info and the links.
