Has anyone rented points for a Disney Vacation Club rental from a third party like Dave’s vacation rental. Looking for a 3 bedroom villa on property for next year.

Not every DVC resort has 3BR villas (also referred to as Grand Villas or GVs).

There are no GVs at BCV, BRV, or PVB (Poly).

GVs take a considerable number of points. Finding an owner with a sufficient number of points, and who owns at the resort you wish to book, can be very challenging if you are going thru one of the third party brokers like David’s. For instance, one week in a BWV GV during Food and Wine will run about 640 points. For many owners, that’s more than they get over a 3-year period! And BWV has one of the cheapest rates for a GV.

GVs can also be quite limited in number. There are only 6 at BWV, CCV has only 4. OKW and SSR have the most with 27 and 36 respectively.

Another thing to consider is that DVC rentals are (for the most part) nonrefundable. You need firm commitments from everyone staying in the villa before plunking down your money. There’s no canceling or moving days around once you book.

I have used David's several times and they are wonderful. However, be mindful that renting a grand villa may be very difficult for the reasons mentioned above. You might need to go the route of separate rooms, but depending on resort and time of year, that may be tricky too. In any event, be ready to put in your request 11 months in advance of your trip to get your best shot at what you want.

It is also challenging to get some of the lower points GVs, specifically OKW and BWV.

We rented 2 savannah view studios at Kidani Village for the past week through Dave's. Worked out great and prompted us to become DVC members!

David is merely a broker between a single owner and someone who wants a reservation. He finds someone with enough points to reserve the lodging you want. You pay David; he pays the owner. Owners can reserve 11 months out at their home resort and seven months out at a non-home resort.
