Disney Vacation Club points rental question

I suspect this needs to go on the DVC board, but I really count on my budget board friends. I am planning a last minute trip to Disney World March 17-23. I can book a decent deal for Coronado with the passholder discount, but I always like to check on points rentals first. I am waiting to hear back from folks, but I know that I need to book Coronado soon. Can a member tell me if there is even any studio availability March 17-23 (interested in almost any resort except Saratoga)? Is booking electronic now so that someone could look it up and let me know? If not, I can just move on to booking at Coronado and save a lot of time.

I have checked the dates on the DVC board, but I know that they are not always complete. I have tried to post a reservation wanted, but I keep getting the "dealers" (more expensive) versus members.

I am usually more patient, but since it is last minute, I just wanna know, ya know?

In your post, state that you want to pay no more than $X per point.

doubt it.

no online booking for DVC, so i'd have to call MS and wait for an operator...sorry. but that's extremely short notice for DVC when you rule out the largest resort (SSR).

yeah - that board is better for knowing there is no availability rather than knowing something is open.

anything is "possible" with DVC, but i'd suggest going for coronado.

I've rented points before, and I was under the impression that you had to do it very far in advance, especially during peak times (I rented 10 months out for a slow time).

Correct, DVC owners can book 11 months out at their home resort (and for peak times, most do) and 7 months out at their non-home resort.

There is no purpose to calling and checking on availability until you are ready to book, because it could change one minute later. Sometimes availability changes while you are on the phone waiting for Member Services to reserve the room, and you can lose it.

Lastly, you are not permitted to post a Reservation Wanted thread on the DIS Rent/Trade board, only to reply to an offer from a member renting a reservation.

As other's have pointed out it is most unlikely you will find anything through DVC this late. Maybe a random room here or there and probably would have to change resorts etc. Plus Saratoga is usually the last to fill so you would most likely be looking at that if anything.

Just book Coronado.

Lately when I call this late to add something DVC I end up booking a regular resort with my AP discount. Not much left these days for sort notice trips.

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, I did not post any "wanted" reservation on the disboards. I used another board, as I know that is not permitted here.

When I have rented in the past, I did this many months in advance. This was just a last minute trip. I knew that it was a long shot, but occasionally I see people needing to sell points by the end of the month or something.

Coronado- here we come!

That really doesn't even matter this late and for Spring Break. Availability is not going to be good for you. It doesn't matter if someone wants to "sell their points" for $1 a point if there isn't anything to book.

You'd probably have to pay before the member even made the reservation.
