Got an email from DVC since we're heading to Disneyworld soon (not a DVC member). It says if I call to schedule a "brief interactive tour" and learn about DVC I'll receive a $25 Disney Gift Card.

Anybody done this yet? Is it a really hard sell, or do they just go through the motions? I hate pushy salespeople, and I have no intent on joining the DVC, but a $25 Gift Card sounds pretty good. Fine print says you must take the tour for at least 10 minutes to qualify. The fine print also states "THIS PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL IS BEING USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING SALES OF TIMESHARE INTERESTS."

Personally I think a $25 gift card is WAY too little to offer someone to have to sit through a timeshare pitch.

I did this recently. The whole process takes about 10 minutes at most. They basically just ask if you know what dvc is and if you have any questions. Then they send the information and gift card. Completely painless.

It's a phone call that last 10 minutes at most. I would say that's pretty good.

Thanks for the clarification; I completely missed the phone call part!

How long did it take to get your gift card? We leave Oct 1. I just got the postcard today. If I called tonight, do you think I'll get it in time for my trip??
Thanks!

Anytime. :goodvibes

I believe it took between 7-10 days. Important to know that you must sign for it.

I got a card, actually a folder of sorts, a few weeks ago and I called last week. Just got my FedEx package today with the DVC information in it and the rep, Doug, said that I would receive the gift card soon after this package.

For those that do the in person time shares....I believe they offer a bit more for that, but we've never done one of those for DVC so I really don't know the specifics.

I did it and it took less than 10 minutes and there was definitely no hard sell. I received the book about DVC from fedex this morning and should receive the gift card separately soon (you have to sign for the gift card package because it has cash value). Easy peasy and now I have a $25 gift card I can give to my teenager to spend on our trip.

In that case, would I be able to just request more info from the website to get this?
I do want to know more about DVC, fwiw.

The phone tour was very informative and the book they send you is nice and contains a DVD (I haven't watched it yet). I guess you could call them and request the phone tour.

It took us right at two weeks... the only problem (which I didn't know when I talked to the DVC rep) was it was shipped FedEx with a "direct signature" required. That requires that the person listed as the receiver must sign for the package. You can't sign a door tag, a release, or have someone else sign unless the driver lets it slide (which they aren't supposed to). I had to go out of my way to pick up the card.

I don't get that requirement. I've had things with much more than $25 of value shipped to my house that were dropped at the front door with no signature, let alone a direct signature, requirement.

i'm cheap and all for free gc's but this sounds like a huge pita for those of us who work outside the home.

I did it. It was painless and definitely no pressure. I actually found it interesting. If you call to do the phone tour, be sure to have your computer on and ready. They send you an email link while on the phone and you look at it along with the rep.

Very easy. :)

I received this e-mail today as well. I called and talked to the cast member for less than 10 minutes. She did not give me an e-mail link as others have mentioned. She was informative and answered questions that I had. I would love to join DVC, but cannot justify the $$. Looking forward to my $25 gift card.

So people have done this without an invitation or card? And you just call a number and talk for 10 min about DVC and you get a gift card?

I got the email, did the call & got my $25 in a little over a week. I received only one return call, but I was out so did not speak to the CM. No hassle or hard sell. I say go for it!:thumbsup2

I did get an offer to sign up for a Disney Visa card. The offer was for a $200 gift card. All that I had to do was charge something. Easy way to get money for Disney.

Mine was an invitation that came in the mail with a number to call. While on the phone with the rep, I was sent an email link to do the "phone tour".

Just went to the presentation 2 weeks ago and got 4 fast passes each worth 3 rides. Presentation was very nice and interesting and no pressure. They were also offering 15.00 each for theatre tickets.

Ok...I'm out of the loop....A friend told me about this offer, but they are not members or anything. How do I go about getting the opportunity to do it. Who do I call....Who do I email??? HEEEELLLP! We are going to Disney in December and every little bit helps! Thanks! :confused3
