Disney Vacation Account question - refund for cancelled room reservation

I did a search but didn't see an answer to this. We were going to be doing a land and sea vacation in July/August, but decided to cancel the land portion of the vacation, or at least the WDW land portion. I had made the deposit for our room only reservation with my DVA. I just cancelled the room reservation tonight. What is everyone's experience for how quickly the money will get refunded into the DVA? I want to pay off the cruise in the next week or so and am wondering if I'll have that money available or not. It's not the end of the world if I don't have it but it would be nice to have it. TIA!

While I don't have experience with this exact scenario, we were told that if we canceled an excursion that was paid for with our DVA, it would be refunded to our DVA within a week. Since they typically err on the side of caution when giving time limits, I would anticipate 2-4 business days. They refund it the same way they refund credit cards from what I understand and we did have a refund on our credit card during our last trip to WDW which showed up on our card in 3 days. If it's really important to you to pay it off next week and the refund does not show up, you could just add extra funds, pay it off and then when you do get the refund, use that to purchase on board credit to cover your tips/spending money or excursions.

Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know. I can definitely wait a week to pay off the cruise. I just didn't want to be waiting around if it was going to be taking 2-3 weeks. We have another cruise booked for next May and we'll be rescheduling the WDW trip at some point so it's not a problem if I end up with some extra in my DVA.
