I have watched the show twice and loved the part about the wedding cakes. They mentioned that they covered them in Fondit (sp?), does anyone have any idea where I can get a recipe for this?

Hi Tim! :) I believe you can make your own fondant, but you can also buy it "pre-made" (my favorite way to make anything... ;) ).

It was a great show, wasn't it?? :)

You can buy it in a craft store that carries candy/cake supplies. I don't know what craft stores you have by you, but Michael's, A.C. Moore's and maybe the craft section at Wal-mart would have it. You can also buy it online at http://www.wilton.com/wiltonos go to their online store and do a searchf or fondant.

that show was awesome! after it though..i REALLY wanted a turkey leg :)

NO... It was not a good show. It messed up my PS plans because I let my DS watch with me. Now we have added another character meal, The Sci -Fi, and my snack budget just got doubled!!!

Really we loved the show and it made us a lot more excited about several planned PS places we have not eated at yet. So glad we saw the info here on the board.

I love fondant! I have only used the pre-made kind. I get it at Wal Mart. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I made very professional-looking cakes with it (and I am no professional!) You can also "sculpt" things with it - I made a Christmas cake with Santa popping out of a chimney. The top was "bricks" - fondant tinted to look like bricks and marked off in a brick pattern with a knife, and the chimney and Santa were 3D - it was easy but looked very difficult! :)

I think they pulled the fondant off the wedding cake on the show because it was decorated with real silver, which is not edible (real gold, however, is!) Also, it can be difficult to slice, and have the slices stay neat (if you're in a hurry). I assumed they could serve that beautiful cake up much faster by removing the fondant first. It's thick and stiff. I have never removed mine, but I've never tried to serve 100 people in 5 mins or less - LOL :)

Laurie :)
