Hi guys

Apologies if this is not the right area but just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

For just over a week, Disney Stores in the UK are running a charity promotion. We launched ours on Wednesday in Chester. For regulars, it's the same thing we did last year.

If you donate in store just £5 then a £15/16 disney character plush will be given to a local charity for a child at Christmas (Our charities are Countess of Chester Hospital Ward and Children's Adventure Farm where they help kids from abusive families/environments - each store picked their own). As a thank you for doing it you will be given a special collectible Mickey Mouse pin, which comes on a Christmas Card presentation. You also get given a tag to fill out which can be personalised and will be attached to the teddy character when it is given to a child, so that the gift comes from someone rather than Disney (you can put 'Santa' if you wish).

It's a really good event and I've been working with the people from our charities and they are so excited. I took the plush last year to the kids in our area and it was so great to see their faces. The kids are often sick, handichallenged or have had a really hard start in life, so it brings them just a little Christmas cheer. I know disers have big hearts so I thought you'd want to know about it.

Each store has a set number to donate and are only sent enough pins for those donations, so if nothing else you get a limited edition pin for your collection. I know it's only running for a limited time - week or two at most. I've done mine and have bought 4 (one for me and one for my two nieces and nephew - they enjoyed hearing all about it last year).

Anyway, I'm done, just thought folks might like to know. If anyone has questions, please ask and if you can't get to a store but wanna do it, pm me - I've just done one for someone who couldn't get in.

Thanks

:)

I didn't know Disney Stores did this - thanks for the information. I think it's a great way to spread the magic at Christmas. :goodvibes

Mines done again for this year :goodvibes Despite being a pin collector, I'd still do this if no pin was offered. I think it's a great cause and only £5 to bring a little magic to children at Christmas.

For information, the Manchester Trafford Centre store are supporting Derian House Children's Hospice this year :) And the tree looked pretty full already!!

Lakeside (essex) are supporting Little Havens childrens hospice, the Burned Children's Club, and Coram.

Thanks for the support guys. Karentan - hope it's going well in store hun :)

Ohhh I did this last year thanks to a kind DISer. :)

I want to do it again, if one of you would be able to help me out. I hate not living near a Disney store. :guilty:

I don't suppose one of you guys have a photo of the pin you could post?

I know someone already offered but just in case, I can get you one too. Already doing it for 2 others. :)

Thank you both for your kind offers but my sister is heading into London this week & is going to pick one up for me. Thanks anyway. :flower3:

Brilliant - glad you've sorted one! :goodvibes

I got 2 last Thursday at Metrocentre, Gateshead store, toys are going to RVI and General Hospital. The staff and volunteers were lovely, my daughters got to make Christmas cards, then I got DD's to hang their tags on the tree. Aswell as the pins, I also got a 20% off voucher to use in store throughout November.

Very proud to say at 2pm yesterday our store sold it's last Charity pin :cool1:

That is fantastic Seobaina :woohoo: I think it's been advertised more this year than last and rightly so too, it's for amazing causes!

Thanks Tinks1984

Here's a quick snap of our charity tree (couple of days before we finished). You should be able to see some tags.

I'm so glad I read about this here - we managed to buy 2 this afternoon at the Aberdeen store. :)
