I'm not fluent in FL anything but I remember reading something about a new law clearing the way for MCO pickups because ride share companies can't be banned anymore? So now is it even possible for Disney to ban these companies?

Yes because it is private property. Just like some airports charge Cab companies a few for the privilege to pick up on property.

With a fleet made entirely of the Traverse, That means a family of 6-7 can fit (depends of they have the middle seat of middle row). This is sometimes harder with Uber/Lyft (so I've read, never used it myself).

Both Uber & Lyft offer SUV's or minivans that can take 6 riders, costing about 75% more than the basic rates.

So, if the basic rate is around $10, then 75% more puts it at $17.50, which is about what Disney is going to charge. Also, aren't the uber and lyft minivans and suv's harder to come by? (by that, I mean they could take quite a bit longer to come)

So, for just a few dollars more, you get Disney's version, which may come more quickly than an Uber or lyft minivan/suv for large families.

Then there is the car seat/booster question. If Disney provides this, then, absolutely lots of people will use it.

From what I read, the whole uber/lyft at MCO thing is that the airport couldn't discriminate between cabs and uber/lyft. So, as they allow cabs, they have to allow uber/lyft. I believe this is what the new law actually says, but I could easily be wrong here.

But, if I'm right, then Disney would have to continue allowing uber/lyft, or not allow cabs on property either.

If they ban Uber, I will adjust my plans to not needing a Uber like service.

They aren't going to do that. Minnie Van's won't go on/off site. Uber/Lyft do.

I imagine they will be like Uber Family and have at least 1 5 point harness seat but I wouldn't expect them to have an unlimited number available. I suspect that families needed 2, 3 seats are still going to have issues.

If I was traveling by myself, I would be much more comfortable using a Disney ride service vs Uber. I've used it before in Disney, but there were two of us. My friend is much more comfortable with travel by cab than I am.

Well I might consider using Minnie's Vans at least once, for my daughter, she would really like it I think. How many people, max, do you think it will transport? I would splurge just once on this for her.

I belive those are 7 seater cars, counting the driver. So 6 passengers

I don't think they will ban Uber/Lyft. That would hurt Disney more than it would help.

They're just trying to offer another incentive to stay onsite and developing another profit center. I'm sure they've researched this a good bit, but I don't see the viability of an in-house service that doesn't go off property. They're essentially providing a paid service that does the same things their free buses already provide.

I think they would still get enough people to do it. Reading the thread about whether to give up seats on the busses made me realize how many people avoid them so they are guaranteed a seat, and how many people just don't like them.

I, personally, would still use the busses most of the time, but I can imagine splurging once or twice to avoid waiting for a bus on a really busy night. Also, one of these would be a lot quicker if you wanted to get to a restaurant at a different resort (and didn't choose Uber for one of the reasons already mentioned above).

P.S. - I bet they'll hand out a few free passes to get the vans visible and get people to try them (and become a bit "spoiled" by them).

We missed the Disney Magical Express back to MCO and wound up with a 73 buck plus tip cab ride via Mears.
Uber would have charged between 30 and 50 bucks for the same trip.
Unfortunately for him, the man, will hear this price difference for quite awhile......

I don't need anymore emptying of my pocketbook simply because polka dots may be part of the decoration.

Unfortunately for him, the man, will hear this price difference for quite awhile......

He'll make it up to you. A few nice dinners (5-6), a weekend away somewhere, an Alaskan cruise, another trip to WDW -- use your imagination.

Don't make him grovel...but make him PAY. Not in dollars ($40 is far too little), but in sincere contrition and understanding of his transgression. It's the path to enlightenment; it will be good for him.

They have discussed it at the expo today. Haven't heard exact dates yet but should soon. Have seen mention that soon Epcot area resorts are due to be testing any day

Don't worry. Told him when we married that it was his choice on how he'd die since there could be noo divorce (BTDT got the tshirt). Peacefully in his bed or with lots of Sam Peckinpah touches. He signed up on those terms so we've been together 28 years and we ALWAYS have fights but no bloodshed.
The taxi ride doesn't rise to the occasion of boxing gloves but is annoying which begets more of the same at odd times.... of my choosing.

Oh and there were 4 of us in the cab and I tend to forget that taxis don't charge the same way as in NYC.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no.... but do you think they would transport a portable ECV scooter broken down. We will have 4 adults and a toddler in a car seat. We are trying to think of transportation for 2 days where we will have breakfast reservations at Beach Club and the poly....

No idea about ECV but I did see an announcement today that they had 2 carseats
Not sure if that's standard in every Minnie Van or only some but at least some had 2

Keeping a watchful eye on this. Much cheaper then rental car and easier to get my party of 5 back and forth not on the buses. If I can get it closer then an Uber (i.e. Not a TTA/Contempo for MK) may cancel the rental car.
