Disney TV cancelled

Does anyone have an email address for someone high up the Sears ladder? I tried finding Alan J. Lacy's email address but couldn't find it. TIA.

Am I the only one that ordered a TV at like 3 AM today and got one?

I'm not sure about consumer laws in the US (in fact I know nothing :goodvibes ) but it's a common misconception here in the UK that a shop has to honour a price, even if it's incorrect.
This isn't actually the case - it's up to the individual shop / manager's discretion.
:flower:

I ordered it, 24 hours later they cancelled it- and then they LIED to me and told me my credit card was denied. THAT made me angry.

It took Sears THREE days to get the "wrong price" off of their web site. That's no way to run a business. They should have honored the price for anyone who was able to order- and they should have pulled it MUCH sooner.

WOW! I wouldn't want to ever make a mistake around you guys! LOL!! :rotfl2: I understand that you wanted the deal but it was obviously a mistake, and now everyone has decided that Sears is the devil for actually saying" sorry we made a mistake and cannot honor that price" I understand the disappointment but the fact is you are not entitled to the TV. Stuff happens, get over it! I'm putting on my flame suit now. That's okay though. I like the heat.

I think the problem about this whole thing is that some people were able to pick up the tv from Sears for the $29.97 price (me included) and others weren't, it took them 3 days to remove the add from their website, and them lying to people saying their credit cards were denied so they didn't have to tell them the truth. I have had many problems with Sears and cancelled my Sears Credit Card because of them. This whole situation is not helping their image and they are losing a lot of customers because of this. They should have just honored the orders already placed and then removed the ad from their site permanently and not just until midnight the day it was removed.

You said exactly what I was thinking. People make mistakes, and we're allowed to correct them if we can. If you see someone drop $100 bill, do you rush & put it in your pocket or do you hand it back to them? You can benefit from their mistake or you can do the right thing.

The US has "truth in advertising" laws that prohibit sellers from deliberately misleading customers - like, advertising a $29 TV and when you get to the store, you find there was only one TV available at that price, and it's been sold, but look, here's a very similar one for only $99!

However, as others have pointed out, these laws do not apply to honest mistakes, and most retailers point that out in the fine print. Also, the laws do not apply to internet sales. So Sears is totally within their rights to refuse to honor the price.

I've seen retailers handle this scenario different ways. Some honor the price. Others have refused to honor the price but have given discounts (though not as steep as the original mistak price). And others just say "sorry!"

Sears is claiming in some cases that credit cards have been denied. Dis members have called their CC companies only to be told that the charge was approved.. This is adding insult to injury.
As for the if you see someone drop a $100 bill analogy- it doesn't work here. Sears put the ad up and yes as it turns out it was a mistake. However, many people had ordered the tvs in good faith. It took Sears 3 days to correct the mistake. If you bought something on sale or ordered something on sale then found out 3 days later that a mistake was made you might be miffed too.

I get a little tired of those in the ivory towers looking down their noses putting the blame where it doesn't belong.

Not about ivory towers my friend, about mistakes. THEY HAPPEN. Could they have handled it better? You betcha! But that is what it was a mistake, an error.

What some dont seem to be understanding is its not the fact that Sears made a mistake and people supposedly took advantage of it..its how they handled it once they realized they made a mistake. They left it on their site for too long and allowed more orders to be made and then turn around and wont honor it and lie to people about their credit cards. I cant wait to see if i get that one too

Is it also a mistake to claim over and over again that credit cards have been denied when in fact the charge has been approved?

Sorry, apparently I was writing my post as Diane posted hers. As you can see,I agree with her!!!

SOMETIMES the hotels and airlines honor those reservations, sometimes they don't. It all depends on exactly what the exec in charge feels like that particular day. I agree that it's good PR to honour it, but they don't always. And they all make sure they have that clause in their T&C as a CYA measure.

I think a lot has to do with how much money they will lose. In the case of the HI, the hotel was being rehabed and was not open. There were a total of ~1200 rooms, so the publicity was worth it. Remember the Disney website negative tax? Disney did not honor the whole reservation, but only the first night.

They did the same thing to me. That's one of the things that has me so mad about the whole thing. I can live with wrong pricing but to just out and out lie to customers :confused3 What does that say about a company?? Nothing good in my opinion.
Its not hard to pull incorrect pricing off a website or throw up a notice stating there is a problem with the pricing on that tv and they are working to correct it.
Instead they left it there for 3 days and now are lying to ppl saying they are not in stock--when ppl at the store have seen some there and lying about ppl's cc's. I wonder just how stupid they think we are?
