Any ideas or tips for giving a trip to Disney for Christmas? We will be there from Jan.3 thru Jan 10 and it's going to be their big gift from Santa. I have 3 boys, they are 9, 4 and 2. I will have presents under the tree wrapped up from us but I'm not sure how to have a trip sitting out for them to see Christmas morning.

My mom would like some ideas on what to give them from her because they have way to many toys and it would be nice if she helped out with money for paying for the trip. Maybe she could print out certificates that says 7 day park tickets? She already has a few Disney toys from the dollar tree to put with it :o) Help:confused:

My SIL"s did this for my 2 kids last yr and they got them each the Disney for kids book and a Disney cd of music from the rides.

When I did this a few years back. I bought the kids there own little Disny Backpack (for the plane) and filled it with stuff to do on the plane as well as Park Maps (someone sent them to me) and The Disney Kids Guidebook and Disney Dollars and other little things.

We did Disney for Christmas when our kids were 8,8, &11. We bought park hoppers at the Disney store locally, then wrapped them each in a box and saved them for the last gifts. The kids were very excited and surprised!

I did this about 3 years ago when ds was 5. I made a paper chain to countdown the days and strung it on the mantel and put a park hopper in his stocking. It was great to have only 15 paper links to cut and it made it fun every day cutting one off. It made a lot more sense to him rather than saying it is only 2 more weeks-- which to a child that young sounds like forever!

We did this last year for our DS, 13, 12, and 4 and DD 7. I found Disney suitcases on clearance on the Disney Store website. I made a certicate to put in the suitcase that said, "YOUR GOING TO DISNEY WORLD" and stated how many days left until we left. They were so excited. The also had little disney gifts I had found around at different stores. That was from Santa!!

We leave Christmas day and I couldnt get up the nerve to tell them its from Santa - Santa has never been that good to them - didnt want to set a precident. I also thought I might slip ending the magic prematurely for our 8 year old while she is still clinging on. Good luck to you though - WHip

What about hat and mittens/gloves with their favorite Disney character on them. The several times we have gone in December the early mornings and evenings get cool and we even live in Maine ;)

What about a camera (at least for the older one). And a photo album with Disney on front and then they can take their own pics and put them in once back home.

Disney character socks, our feet would sweat, get wet, was nice to have dry ones to change into.

Enjoy your trip, as with others I am jealous I will not be there this year for the holidays! :santa:

I wouldn't give the trip from Santa - it should be from you & your dh. If you give something this big, they will think that Santa can bring them anything & that is not always good for kids to think. This is just my opinion. Can you make it that the gifts are from Santa? Maybe a letter from Santa explaining that he didn't leave a ton of things since he knew you were all leaving on a trip soon but the gifts he leaves are to help with the trip?

Scavanger hunt: (I did a spring break baseball theme for my son one time) Hide the gifts over the house.

first gift: under tree--with clues leading to the other gufts around the house.

sunglasses, sunscreeen & hat (if hat people). Leave clues for the next gift/message: "These are necessary for your magical journey. What else will you need? Check the car"--type messages at each gift

map of the U.S. with maybe some puzzle books, games, etc that would be appropriate for either a car ride or the plane.

backpack/clothing with Disney themes?

Use Disney themed gift wrap

Disney Dollars--are you or your mom near a store? (hide in freezer---cold hard cash????)

One of the guidebooks (I recommend the Unofficial Guide or Birnbaum for kds for the younger ones) (do you have book shelves in your house--wrap and hide among the other books)

Final gift--back under the tree: the tickets/activated or not. You can pick up the tix at the Disney Store--if you don't have the $$$$$ right now to activiate them you can just pick up the tix and not activiate-----the kids will never know the difference (just be sure to remember to activate them at Guest Services or back at the Disney Store before the trip) or the gift certificate idea.
