Can you use Disney buses etc. if you are not staying in a Disney hotel? For instance if I am at Magic Kingdom and I want to go to Downtown Disney can I hop on one of their buses and then return to MK on their bus? Is there a charge if so? Thanks in advance! :smooth:

The buses are for resort guests only. But, I have never been asked to show ID. That doesn't mean they haven't or won't. We stay onsite so that we can use the transportation and park free plus I love being at WDW all the time!

Transportation is supposed to be limited to resort guests and AP holders. That said, no one will stop you, so ride away :-) Just remember that if you go to DTD at night, the MK will be closed when you come back, so you would end up at the TTC. Which is probably where you need to be anyhow, as that's where your car is. If you come back so late that you can't get to the TTC, take a bus to the Poly and walk over.

Actually with a multiday pass you have use of the transportation system for WDW. The busses from the resorts to the parks are for Disney resort guests only. They have busses from each park to other parks which are for the use of people with multiday passes, resort guests, ap holders, etc.

Gail: I had not heard that before. It was my understanding the transportation was for resort guests only. But, like I said, I've never seen them ask for ID before. It also would make sense to allow park hopper passes the ability to "hop" with the transporation ;) Guess I wasn't reading the question right...

Tinkerbell,
I would not worry about it, this is a place to share and learn.
I went to the Disney site and managed to find something on the transportation and ticket stuff.

With every Park Hopper® Ticket you get:
Unlimited admission* to the four Disney Theme Parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney-MGM Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
The flexibility to go from Theme Park to Theme Park on the same day
Convenient Walt Disney World® transportation -- monorails, ferryboats, and motor coaches

Hope this helps, folks. :)

I have never been asked for ID on board a Disney bus. I suppose they don't really care who travels where on the buses although if you are not staying at or eating at or wishing to examine the architecture of a resort, you really won't be wasting your time going there.

I haven't heard of anyone's car being towed out of a resort except in violation of the 3 hour permit that any resort may impose at any time due to the parking lot's filling up, or obvious and repeated use of the resort as free park parking The 3 hour limit applies to all guests except those staying at that very resort.
