With the new EMH hours we are going to go to AK first thing in the morning and then go over to MK since we will have 3 extra hours in the evening. We have 2:00 PS at Cinderella's and want to make sure we make it therein plenty of time.

We've never park hopped, how do you get from AK to MK? We will be resort guests. How long will it take?

Your best bet is to take the bus to the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian (Whichever comes first) from AK... Then hop on the monorail from the resort. Unfortunatley, they don't run direct transportation from park to park.

Give yourself about an hour... Probably more than you need but good to have extra time.

Finding out about transportation within WDW is one of the most frustrating things about planning! It is very difficult to find accurate and up-to-date info. even with the plethora of websites devoted to Disney. I would recommend you call 407-WDWINFO and ask the question...I have done this before and the person got on the line with a transportation dispatcher to answer my question.

I've never tried to go between AK and any of the other parks, but my guess is that your fastest method of transportation would be to take a cab. I think it would run you $15-20 (including tip) for your entire party for door-to-door service. If you are going to be on a tight schedule, this could be your best bet.

Driving would give you the absolute most flexibility, but some people can't stand driving when they're at WDW. I don't find it very difficult to navigate around "the world" and I really hate trying to cram onto a packed bus at the end of a long day with ids, bags, strollers, etc. Another plus - as a resort guest you will not have to pay for parking.

Driving is a great option to all the parks except MK... In my opinion. In your situation driving would be the best bet if you have a car... I usually don't suggest driving to MK because you have to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and take the monorail over. But from AK to MK that would be the quickest way.

Taking one of the monorail resort busses is a great idea. Another easy choice is to take the AKLodge bus to that resort and change to the MK bus. My guess is that at the longest it would take you would be 45 mins, but I would leave and hour and 15 mins just in case.

Just a recommendation, if you choose to take the bus from AK to MK or the hotels when AK is closing, be prepared to wait in line for the bus for a long time. I made this mistake before. I figured I would go to MK since it closes later after spending the day at MGM, um I guess a lot of other people had this idea too :). The line for the bus to MK was so long I had to stand through several buses filling up in the rain none the less :). Not to mention there is not a constant stream of buses to the MK, so consider you have to wait say 15 minutes between buses (although this might vary depending on the time of year). When I finally got crammed on the bus I was left standing crunched between tons of other people. There was so much traffic that the bus ride itself took a very long time. By the time I reached MK, I was ready to just go home. I decided I would never take those buses again :P. BTW, it took a total of 2 hours to do this whole ordeal.

OK, I am pretty good with the Disney Transportation system, so this is what I would do in your case.

Take the bus from your resort to AK. About an hour prior to your PS, be on the bus to the Grand Floridian. When you arrive at the GF, take the monorail to the MK. It is the 1st stop.

If you drive, you can get a bus from the MK back to AK (you will have to go the TCC to do this). The busses will run between the parks until one hour after the last park closes, so you can pick up your car.

I wouldn't drive, and here is why.... you park at AK, so you have to take the tram to your car. Move car to MK, park, take tram to TTC, then wait in line for monorail to take you to the MK.

We never drive when we stay at MK. We have found it much easier to use the provided transportation.

Have a great trip!

There IS park to park transportation. There is a bus from AK to MGM, EPCOT and MK...but the one to MK will drop you off at the TTC. From there you can take the ferry or express monorail to the MK.

What resort will you be staying at? That would factor into my decision of whether to drive or use WDW transportation.

I agree with eeyore0062. If you were going to MGM or Epcot, driving would make sense, but not to MK. I'd take the bus to GF/monorail to MK also.

We are staying at ASMO.

Then I would take the bus to AKL.

When you're ready to go to MK, watch for the MK bus as well as the CR, Polynesian or GF bus. Usually the Polynesian and GF are sharing.

Anyway catch whichever bus comes first. From any of them, you will have to transfer. From the CR it is a short walk to the MK. From the TTC, you can take the express monorail or the ferry. From the Polynesian you can catch the launch :boat: (and the MK is the next stop) or the monorail. From the GF you will have that short ride on the monorail but you will be the last stop for the bus. If this is all too confusing, just take the MK bus which again will go to the TTC.

When you are finished at the MK, don't go back to the TTC. As you exit the MK, go left and there will be a bus stop for All Stars.
