We will be staying at WL in May (20-30). Is it faster to drive to AK,MGM, and Epcot or use disney buses? We will take the boat to MK. Thanks!

OK! Well if you are just going to do Disney Parks I would go for Disney trans but if you are looking to go place like Kissimee or outlets etc.. I'd say car! So it basically depends on you're plans!

I would use your car. Then you don't have to worry if the bus is crowded, you can plan your own schedule.

I agree, use your own car. I can't imagine spending even a minute of my vacation waiting for a bus. When we are ready to go to AK or MGM we just drive our car.

On the other hand, you may be one of those people who prefers having someone else drive, and are looking forward to not driving on your vacation, or if you are the type to get "freaked out" driving in an unfamiliar place (though we find it incredible easy to find our way around WDW) you might prefer the bus. Some folks say they find it more "relaxing" to not have to even think about their car while in WDW, and love taking the busses. For me, I find it more relaxing to drive our rental car wherever and whenever we want.

i am so with safetymom
here
i always rent a car
i dotn wanna waste time and time is $ waiting for buses
this way i can come and go and not be at the mercy of the crowds
we are renting a car in dec when we go

We always rent a car, but also use Disney buses. Having a car is a great stress reliever and we use it on days when we plan to stay until park closing (or close to it) or if we plan to head back to the resort mid-day. Mid-day Disney buses seem to have longer waits; park closing is a bus nightmare.

It costs a little more but for me the convenience of having your own transportation is worth it.

Thanks! We will be staying at WL so we have a parking pass. Since we are driving we will have our own car. My goal is wasting as little time as possible. We do plan on returning to our hotel most afternoons. Anyone else who has driven to the parks from WL?

we drove from WL last sept when we stayed there
itwas fine
quick to
sometimes its ok to do the buses adn the boats to the MK reosrts are nice but a bus to another resort or DTD or bad bad bad
good luck

I was just going to ask the same question except we are staying at BWV. I really think where it would be nice is all the character and regular dinners we are going to. Although many people have told us that parking sometimes is an issue plus you have to walk from where you park vs. being dropped off right at the entrance. Any one else have thoughts about this? Plus I was wondering about parking fees at parks adding up plus the tips to the valet at BWV.

Our family's stayed at WL several times. We've never driven to MK -- the boat is too much fun. Usually take the bus to AK. But driving to Epcot and the Studios works for us; driving to character meals is a must, too.

The parking fee at the Disney parks is $9.00 per day. Just keep your receipt so you won't have to pay again on that day.
From the Boardwalk Villas you can walk or boat to both Epcot and the Disney Studios. The only time you will need to drive or use Disney buses is to the AK, MK, DTD or the water parks. Since you cannot park at the Magic Kingdom you are better off taking the Disney bus right to the park entrance. One of the reasons we love the Epcot resort area is that we never need a car. I find it so relaxing not having to touch a car during our stay. Disney tranportation is more than good enough for us.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, you park FREE at all Disney parks. Just make sure your resort parking pass is on your car's dashboard and the CMs will wave you through the gate.

Definitely drive. You wont be:

- tied to a schedule
- crushed with crowds

It's pretty hard to get lost at WDW. The road signs and routes are fairly well marked.
