Disney Trading Pin Collection!!!!!!!

A full set of pins would be five pins (or more depending on the set) that are of a themed group that might include one each of the fab five or other characters. For example, I have a set of seven of Alice in Wonderland that are all chess pieces. DS collected a Muppets set and several POTC sets. It's a challenge to find an entire set and on occasion he has finally found the last one of the set on our last day which gives such a thrill! :wizard:

I have bought from the Disney Store online and had them shipped to the resort just ahead of our trip and I have bought them on clearance in an actual Disney Store. The marked down pins might be as cheap as $2, if you're really lucky just less than that - compared to $7-15 in the parks that is a good deal! Ebay is great for getting a variety of pins (anywhere from 1 to 10 to 100+) for a reasonable price, just make sure the seller has positive feedback. I live in Canada, so I am careful on shipping costs but if you live in the U.S., the shipping costs can be negligible. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the information and help!

We have about 500 or so (all 4 of us collect). We have them in display frames we purchased from Michaels. We had a New Years Eve party and some friends were looking at the collection - they were commenting on the expense of our collection. My DH told the other Disney lover about purchasing clearance pins and ebay pins for collecting. They thought we payed $8 a pin :lmao: I spend way to much time on the Budget board for that! :lmao:

Each of my 3 boys has one lanyard completely filled. So right now their lanyards just hang on their bedroom doorknob.

My question is.......Does anyone have any neat/creative ideas for displaying the pins at home? Whether on the lanyard or not?

I have 1,855 pins and I have been collecting since 2001. I originally just collected Alice in Wonderland pins; which consist of 402 of my collection. I don't know where the other 1453 came from. It is weird how they multiply everytime I visit Florida. Must be something in the air. ;)

I have lanyards displayed on a belt rack that hangs on the door of my closet. Most of my alice pins are kept in pin trading books. I also have several cork boards that display my completed hidden mickey series. And lastly, I display my favorite pins in frames.

Dizpinsboards.com has a discussion board with a forum called The Pin Gallery. Collectors show off the different ways they have framed their pins.

DD9 is the only one in our family.....
She only has about 12, and she is really looking forward to trading and buying more next month!
we only get to WDW every five years, so we dont have that many, more of a fun side thing to do - not intense into trading.

You could put them in a frame or a bullitin board and keep the back in a safe place.

Oh my, that is a lot of pins I can't believe 402 of them are Alice in Wonderland!

So is there a trading pin book or anything that shows the different sets available?

I'm using pinpics.com to track our keepers. You can also search for what's out there. We have 113 keepers then another 70 we are taking to the park to trade. Every trip I buy a lot then we swap out which ones we want to keep and which we want to get rid of. The keepers change as DD gets older and her interests evolve.
