I know many of us have seen them, but I am extremely curious about them. How do you get one? What do they cost? What benefits do they offer? Anyone have any other interesting information about them?

They are the VIP guides & I believe the rate is approx. $150 an hour, w/ something like a 6 hour minimum. Evidently they get your fastpasses for you, ADRs & tour around with you.

not exactly. plaid vests simply means guest relations. guest relations also operates most tours so whoever is conducting the keys to the kingdom tour will be wearing the same costume, for example.

but a private VIP tour is an option

Yes, I saw the same plaid vests at guest relations too. The cast members I was curious most about were the ones you generally see with a small group, like a family or two at most, and it appeared to be a VIP tour. I always looked to see if it were someone famous. Other than getting you fastpasses and ADRs, what is the value? $150 an hour!?! Just curious about such things.

They work really hard to maximize your time in the parks..

Optional services even include private vehicle transportation directly park to park -- chauffeured if you will.

Think of it like 'knowing a really experienced CM" who can plan your trip and be with you every step of the way. (for only 150$ an hour with a 6 hour minimum.. and you gotta feed 'em .. just like family.) :)

So I'm thinking, it would be like a scheduling/planner service (like TGM), except a real person that does it for you and keeps you on track during your visit? Sounds cool. But expensive.

We had a VIP Guide in December 2006, it was a fabulous day, she picked us up at our hotel, drove us in the cast member entrance at MGM, we walked through a little gate and we were right at Rock n' Roller coaster... we had lots of rides all day with no waiting, sometimes she took the kids for rides while the adults shopped, we had VIP seating for Indiana Jones, Beauty and the Beast and the Hollywood parade. We were taken to meet Belle and Prince Vincent privately after the show and also Sorcerer Mickey privately.

She was a great hostess and told us many stories and trivia and Disney History, we had lunch and dinner all together and went on a fireworks cruise, she was with us from 9:00am until after 10:00pm as she drove us back to our hotel. Best day ever at Disney, would like to try it again sometime at MK or DAK. Cost a fortune, a real splurge.

Cass...what a dream come true. That is something you will never forget! Worth the $ I'm sure. :cool1:

Subscibing!

It's something I've never done because it is expensive and if one of my doofus kids or nephews was being particularly doofusey I'd have trouble saying, "Shut the hell up, doofus" with a nice young tour guide who might not understand the dynamics of our family around.

But I've always wanted to know just what they do, exactly.

Sounds awesome Cass. Would love to hear more stories like those. Maybe when I win the lottery....

It really makes you feel like a VIP, that's for sure. All the other CM's move aside or bend over backwards when the plaid vest arrives.

Here is the link to my trip report, I think the VIP day was page 4 or 5
