Disney touches at wedding

Late to the thread. I usually hang out on the DLR side of the boards. I got married 11 days ago and had several little Disney references...

At the ceremony, the mothers were seated and the bridesmaids walked in to "Someday My Prince Will Come." I walked into "When You Wish Upon a Star." After we were pronounced husband and wife, we went back down the aisle to "A Whole New World". Not many people caught the songs, but it made us smile, and now whenever I hear "A Whole New World," it takes me back to that moment.

At the reception, we had a Mickey and Minnie cake topper made out of glass from fairytaleweddingstore.com. It was spendy, but perfect for us. We had planned to have scrollwork with hidden Mickeys on the cake, but the cake designer didn't understand what we meant apparently, because there were very obvious fondant Mickeys. But, it was cute all the same. We also had some décor marbles on the tables, with hidden Mickeys made with the marbles and some candles. We also had Disney songs playing during the reception.

The DFTW CD on Amazon was $11 or so. Money WELL spent! I loved having the songs available, without sounding overly "childish"!

Do any of you have some good ideas on how to incorporate Disney and Disney music into our wedding subtly? (I'm not talking putting a Mickey mouse topper on the cake, just not my style) thanks!!

a few of the disney touches we had at our wedding were:

1. the mothers walked down the aisle to the 'i know you, i walked with you once upon a dream' melody played by a string quartet

2. the centerpieces at the reception were ceramic castles that my mom and I handpainted a silvery white with blue turrets (reminiscent of cinderella castle, but not exact replicas)

3. each of the tables at the reception was named after a disney location, instead of numbered. for example, the head table was named Atlantica (my favorite movie is Little Mermaid). other table names were things like 100 Acre Wood, Agrabah, Neverland, Pride Rock, etc.

My wedding was 16 years ago and I didn't have wedding at Disney for 1 main reason - we couldn't afford it. So instead a brought Disney to my wedding.

These are the touches I incorporated:

Mickey and Minnie are our favorite characters so we had a Mickey & Minnie cake topper.

For our wedding party we ordered Mickey ears from Magic Kingdom with their names embroidered on the back and used those as their place cards for where they sat at our head table. Plus is was a great souvenir for them too.

For our ceremony, my husband and his groomsmen worse ultra formal attire. DH had a white tie and vest. His groomsmen were in black. For the reception we got a 2nd set of vests and ties that were Mickey's face. They changed into those at the reception hall and it was fun to see them wearing them after they dropped their tux jackets on the backs of their chairs to boogie the night away.

We also bought random Mickey & Minnie figurines we really liked to put on our head table among the flower arrangements. The guests really liked how we kept things formal at the church but really let loose with our theme at the reception.
