Disney to Shut Down ESPN Zone Restaurants

You may want to change the title, it's a little confusing. The ESPN Zones located on Walt Disney World property (Downtown) and at Disneyland will remain open. :thumbsup2

I always enjoyed the one on the Boardwalk. Sorry to see it go. They were always busy when I was there so I don't see how they could claim it was lack of business.

I have always wondered how they could afford that space in Times Square when it is always empty. ESPN does many broadcasts from the one in NYC, but they have another studio in NYC, and it wasn't helping their sales, so this makes sense.

Doesn't surprise me, I actually wish closings included the one at WDW. I don't find their food to be all that great and overpriced. I remember my grandmother orderd a glass of wine. The it was a smaller wine glass and then filled it only half way, my grandmother looked at the waiter and told him she thinks they forgot to finish filling the glass. The waiter wasn't really sure how to respond other than, "no, that's the right amount"

I was there about 2 years ago during the World Series with Philly playing Tampa. We went there to watch the game and they only had it one a handful of the smaller tv's and a college football game on the big TV and they wouldn't change it. The place was filled with people in Phillies jersey's clearly there to watch the game so it's not like they would have been changing it for a few people.

So are they shutting down the one at the boardwalk at Disney World? Does anyone know when they're supposed to be closing them? TIA!

No, they are NOT shutting down the one on the Boardwalk!!!

Please read the article, folks.

The only outlets to remain open are those tied to a Disney property, such as the Downtown Disney shopping district in Anaheim.

We have been to the one in Times Square a few times...our kids' school always goes there for their 8th grade class trip before seeing a broadway show so I was just there in April with dd's class. It's 3 stories tall and it was pretty empty, just one other school group who ate and left and a handful of other people, plus our group. It was great for the kids because they had the game area to themselves.
I guess the Dave and Buster's that recently opened in NYC didn't help.
