Recently they changed Pirates in Florida to include a mermaid effect.
It is very difficult to see in the video but you hear mermaids singing, see a mermaid skeleton and see a projection in the water of a mermaid swimming plus a water effect pushing the water just below the surface as if a mermaid fin was slapping the water as it swims away.

So question is, is this change going to effect the Anaheim attraction as well?

hee's the video and article, again the effect is difficult to see in the video

We were recently in WDW and rode the 'mermaid enhanced' POTC. Personally, I didn't care for the music that was added, as it detracted from the usual, much beloved, music:) The other effects were minor, and if you didn't know to expect them, you'd miss them. Even my husband and daughter didn't see the mermaids in the water, as you had to be on the right hand side of the boat to see it. The skeleton was visible to all, but (once again) without knowing it was coming, you'd miss it.

If we are going to get it here, I'm glad that it won't shut the ride down for long (if at all).

It most likely wouldn't come to Disneyland, although I wouldn't be surprised. The effect is so minor; you can barely see the projection. I'm not impressed. I don't want any more movie tie-ins, so I hope we don't get it.
