Here's the dilemna... I got the MYW Package with Dining & 8 day hoppers and am debating on upgrading to 10 day no exp. with Pluses to save some days for next year. We could use 5 days this time (we also have a 2 day Ulitmate Pass left each) and 5 days next year. The cost looks like it is $100 each to add the no exp., $10 to add 2 days from 8-10 days, and $45 for the pluses. That would be about $155/each x 4 or $620.

That should give us 5 days next year plus 5 trips to the water parks (a whole day for us) Technically 10 Disney Days if you count the waterparks as a day each. I am on the fence with this one so any advice would be greatly appreciated... We could use all 8 days this time but we don't have to.

Thanks for any thoughts :)

For $155 each you would get:

2 major park days
5 waterpark/DQ/PI/WWoS days
...AND the option to take a day off and enjoy your resort and/or visit Fort Wilderness and/or go resort hopping on Disney monorails/water transportation etc...

This "AND" is very important because it gives you the greatest flexability with your tickets. Use what you want and the rest are there at bargain prices. You can always buy more ticket days if you find you need them for the second vacation...but my guess is that doing both vacations exactly as you want to do them and incorporating a little "enjoy/explore and use the themed pools at your resort" time...you will have more than enough "ticket" for 2 vacations.

For our family it would be a no brainer because we go back, use our plus days as "whole days", and sometimes have more fun exploring Disney property for free...explore AK Lodge for example (use some of your dining options there) ...sleep in and instead of going to a park go over there at your leisure one day for dinner at Boma after checking out the resort (lots of things to see including animals/african history/artifacts/masks/carvings/geyser/...even their gift shop (!)...you'll not be wasting a day of park time to be able to eat there and have time to really relax and explore the resort...go where your curiosity leads you..don't know if I am explaining this well...but do you see how this saves you a day on your ticket and still gives you something wonderfully Disney to do without costing anything additional?

If you are a frequent Disney visitor, the best value for your money is buying the longest non-expiring pass that you can.

If we go to WDW this fall, we will buy 10 day non-expiring hoppers even though we may only go into the parks 2 or 3 days this fall. The other days will be saved for future visits. :)

I'm in the process of planning a November WDW visit (solo) and have been crunching numbers on Value and Moderate resorts with various discount options. It also may be expanding from 4 full days to 7 full days! Not sure yet--have to see if someone can cover 2 days for me.

Bottom line for 1 solo adult:

Value resort, regular season, rack rate, free dining plan (if available), 1 single-day ticket purchased through WDW + 10-day non-expiring hopper (I don't need the pluses) purchased through Maple Leaf (or other discount park ticket broker) was the best value. The pluses purchased in the same manner yielded the same value--I just don't need them. It would yield similar value for families, particularly with children!

Moderate resort, 8 nights regular season, 1 night value season, AP discount 30% (if available and at that rate) was a break-even proposition for the AP, even if I don't return. No dining plan available, although I could purchase the DDE. Not sure if it's a particularly good value for me, but I have time to research it thoroughly. Probably would be a good value for those who enjoy dining and larger groups/families. I tend to graze at WDW (and at home, for the most part), with a "meal" every two or three days.

The other options at a moderate resort (AAA discount, free dining if available, etc.) were within $30 of one another. Still a good value, particularly if the AP discounts don't materialize or are significantly smaller than previous years.

If you are planning to go back to Disney within the next few years I would definately go for the 10 day non exp. plus passes. 10 days at the parks, 5 days at DQ or the water parks- That's 15 days- It comes out to around $23 bucks a day. A very good value.

If I'm staying 7 nights can I buy a 10 day non-expiring ticket through Disney? I'm currently booked for 7 nights, 8 day passes with free dining. Can I upgrade the ticket when I get there? One poster mentioned buying only a one day ticket with the package and a 10 day ticket through a broker. Is that a better deal?

I know you can get the 10 day non exp through Disney. I am not sure what that other person's situation is but that may be a better deal for her but I did the math for my package and it was better for me to go ahead and buy my tix through Disney. I guess you have to do the math for your scenario to find out which is better.

Thank you for all the help. I think I am going to go for the 10 day non exp./plus passes since it will basically take care of tickets for next year and the plus tickets will probably last for 2-3 trips. I think 5 days at the parks and 1 water park day is plenty for an 8 night trip and we will relax more. Plus it justifies another trip next year!LOL
