We are staying at POR in April and have planned to purchase my theme park tickets directly at the resort when we check in. We have always done this in the past. Doing it that way we got hard plastic cards with our names and the type of tickets we had purchased imprinted on the front and these served as our tickets. I can't remember if those cards also worked as our room key or if they gave you seperate key cards. Does anyone know? Also if I were to purchase my tickets on-line instead do they mail you paper tickets then that you have to use the entire stay? Seems like having a plastic card as my ticket is the better way to go. Less likely to get them water soaked or torn.:confused3

We bought them ahead of time and they doubled as a park ticket and a room key. Definately the way to go. Like you said they don't get all torn up either when they get wet. I would just call the reservation line for Disney and add on park tickets that way to ensure they are, in a sense "bonded" with you room reservation.

Yes, they are actually your room keys with your park tickets added on to that. You may purchase your tickets anywhere and if you have a separate paper ticket, just have them add them on to your room key.

Just an FYI--The "paper" tickets that you get if you they are not encoded on your room key are not plain paper. They are virtually tear proof and I am pretty sure they are also coated to be water resistant. I have never had a problem with them.

So if your only reason for having them on your room key is because you are concerned about tearing/water damage you don't need to worry. And if anything should happen to them, you can always take them to a ticket counter and have them replaced.

Now, as for convience, I do agree that I prefer my ticket on the room key just because it is nice to have it hard plastic and for EMH it is easy. But if I think that I am going to have days left over on my ticket (sometimes I buy 10 day tix to save 5 days for a future trip) I actually prefer the "paper" ticket since they are easier to slip in one lanyard/card holder for the entire family to save.

If you buy your tickets from the Disney website, they are plastic, if you buy them elsewhere they are paper. You can have the lobby concierge add them to your room key so you only have to carry one card. Unless something has changed, you have to check in first and get your room key and then go to the concierge desk for them to add them to your card.

Has anyone bought tix from Mapleleaf? If I do can I get the tix put on my room key?

those "flimsy" tickets that everyone seems to think are cheap are made of mylar and printed in such a way that they ink cannot smear. You can run them though the washing machine in your jeans and they come out fine and usable.

Find that out from experience? :laundy: :confused3 ;)

yup, twice with the same ticket... it ended up being kinda chilly that week, and only packed one pair of jeans, so I have to do laundry a couple times.
