So, both my friend and I are planning our weddings with Disney in mind. She's going with more of a princess theme, and I'm just incorporating some small Disney elements into mine.

We also happen to be taking a Disney class and for our final project, we are focusing on reasons why we, and other brides, might choose to use Disney as a theme and how they are incorporating it into their weddings.

If you are using Disney as part of your theme, do you have any ideas to help us with our planning or with our project?

I wish that Disney was incorporated into my schoolwork!! lol

If you look on the POTD thread, there are pictures of everyones "hidden mickey's". There are a couple of indexes (one on the first page) that will let you know which page to find the hidden mickeys on, as it is a really long thread. But the brides here have used many different things to include Disney in their wedding. Some examples are jewellery, crystal tattoo's, crystal mickey's in the bouquets, stationary, etc. There are unlimited possibilities!

Personally, I have been going to Disney since I was a baby, as has my entire family. We are "Disney People". When I found out how affordable a Disney wedding could be, I knew that is what I needed to do. Disney has been a big part of my life, so it makes sense to incorporate it into one of the biggest days of my life. I cannot get enough of the Disney Magic - it never dies, no matter how many times I visit Disney, or watch a movie. It makes me feel like a child all over again, and it is almost impossible to be in a bad mood at Disney.

I am going to incorporate Disney in a bunch of ways. I am going to use a cinderella castle cake topper, coach centrepieces and favours, mickey heads in my bouquet, a charm on my garter, I am doing up a Disney newsletter, it will be incorporated somehow in my stationary, and my friend is going to also incorporate it into my shower.

So hopefully this helps you a little. If you need anymore help, I would be glad to answer more questions!

I incorporated "Disney" elements, although none of them were obvious. They were all personal things from Disney that meant something to me. Our invitations and petal cones had a drawing I made of the lighthouse at the Yacht & Beach Club. It's our favorite hotel to stay at, and where we had our wedding. The cake that we had had a lit up sugar glass section in front. The pattern on the panel was copied from the light in the theatre on the Disney cruise ships, which I've been on many times. Our menu was all of our favorite dishes from the different restaurants around DW, our signature drink from the Adventurer's Club, all places my husband and I had been together and loved. They weren't obvious, but when I was looking around for inspiration, that's the sort of thing that brought about the happiest memories.

I like the idea of having Disney songs playing during the reception like...
A Whole New World...Kiss the Girl (my fave)...Once Upon a Dream for our first dance...etc... I like Disney songs :)

We are having a beauty and the beast theme. I am walking down the aisle to beauty and the beast, we are having red roses all over the place, our cake topper is a lenox beauty and the beast statue, etc. We are trying to be mostly subtle but still have disney flair.

And why did we choose disney...

I jokingly ordered the dftw video to see what they had to offer, made my df watch it (I was joking because i didn't think it was going to be affordable or that he would want it). And after he had about 2 months to think about it, he randomly comes to me and says we should get married at disney. He said that he wanted our wedding to be an experience that our guests will remember with us for the rest of our lives. We are going with beauty and the beast as our theme because my df loves me and its my favorite movie. He pretty much said that as long as we get married, he doesn't care what the theme is.

Our wedding is may 22. We are doing some small disney stuff. The cake topper will be mickey and minnie, The cake server is from the disney collection. Our toasting glasses are also disney.

The wedding invitations are disney also. The honeymoon is also in disney. The cake cutting song is a whole new world.

We couldnt afford to have the wedding at disney so we incorporated some disney elements into our wedding without going overboard lol.

One of our favourite Disney movies is Enchanted, so we are having an Enchanted 'inspired' wedding. Our colours are taken from a mixture of the dresses Giselle wears, all the music we are using for the ceremony is from Enchanted, the dress I have in mind is quite similar in style to the aqua dress Giselle wears, i have the Kirstie Kelly Giselle inspired earrings, and also what we hope to do on the day is recreate some of the classic disney moments in photos like they do in the movie. HTH xx

DF and I have never been to Disney together (but we will be going for our planning session in June) so we don't have any special Disney memories to draw on. We chose Disney because my family and I have been going there almost every year since I was little. I never even thought about having a wedding at Disney or even Disney-inspired until I met my DF. Our relationship just seems like a fairy tale and there's no where else that would do it justice(and we live in Hawaii!).

We're making Little Mermaid themed Save the Dates and our newsletter has tons of Disney touches. Our ceremony itself will be at Boardwalk, so we're taking advantage of the Vintage Seaside theme. I'm making a crystal and shell bouquet and will be putting hidden mickey designs with the crystals. We are using 40s era music and will be adding in some Disney Classics, like the original "When You Wish Upon A Star" since Pinocchio came out during that time.

Since DF and I met in the Navy, it's just fitting to use an Under The Sea theme and hold our reception at the Living Seas. We are planning on using the seagulls from Nemo as our cake topper (we're pretty non-traditional). We're not getting married until December so we still have a lot to plan. Hope this helps.
