Hi,

We are considering taking a taxi from the Epcot resorts back to Pop Century after Illuminations. Can anyone give me information about cost and how to contact them?

If you check out Mears website, they have a fare calculator to show you how much the trip will cost (excluding tip). You can then call them and book a taxi.
Alternatively, you can walk to one of the EPCOT resorts (10 mins from IG), and ask a bell hop to ring up a cab for you, or call one over if there is one there already.
The Swan and Dolphin have city cabs normally waiting outside them, however they are expensive and cost about double what a Mears cab would be.

With gratuity you're probably looking at about $20

If you decide to catch it from the boardwalk, just let bell services know and they will call one over for you. They'll have them lined up outside the resort.

We typically do Taxi rather than bus. I can't remember a ride being more than about 20 dollars.

The fare estimator on the mears site isn't that reliable. I like taxifarefinder.com much better.

The only cabs that are allowed to pick up on WDW property (including the Swan and Dolphin) are Mears cabs. They may go by different names (Checker Cab, Yellow Cab, City Cab, etc.,) but they are all managed by Mears and will all have the same rates:

$ 2.20 for the first 1/4th of a mile, or first 80 seconds of waiting time

$ .55 for each additional 1/4th of a mile or 80 seconds waiting time

$ 1.00 surcharge on all trips from airport

$ 3.85 for the first mile, and $ 2.20 each additional mile

There will be taxis waiting at the taxi stand outside of Epcot (and every other park.) There are also cabs parked just out of sight at every hotel, just ask someone at bell services to call one for you.

I echo the estimate of a little less than $20 plus tip for a taxi (it was $18 to get from AKL to Epcot). The taxi stand at Epcot is with the buses.

We are having dinner at Via Napoli and will be closer to the International Gateway when Illuminations is over. I thought it would be quicker to walk to an Epcot resort and get a taxi back to Pop from there instead of fighting the masses to catch a bus. Do y'all think it would be worth the $20 for a taxi? I don't know how far the walk is to an Epcot resort compared to the bus lots from Italy. Any advice?

Surprisingly, it's pretty much a wash whichever route you go. It's about 0.82 miles from Italy to the Beach Club main lobby and 0.88 miles from Italy to the Epcot bus stop entrance. In terms of crowds, they will probably be fewer folks heading to find a taxi at one of the Epcot resorts. So in terms of walking, it's not really much of a difference in the end.

I highly recommend downloading google earth.
