Disney Tattoos

I love this topic! I have stitch on my rt ankle :)

When I came home from doing my internship, the thing I missed most was watching Wishes! almost every single night. And so, I took my favorite lyric, "just believe" along with those Disney "shooting stars" that you see on cups and napkins and such and combine the two:

Got it done in August '06 and it cost $75. No pain!

I LOVE everyone's tattoos! Glad to see that we all express our Disney love through tattoos!

Great tattoo !

Okay, I just read this whole thread from start to finish and I really would like to get a tattoo but I'm still chicken. I have my belly button pierced and my tragus pierced

ear.jpg

and neither of them hurt. I want to get something related to Disney but not really a specific character.

Silly little off-topic story...

I had the same 2 piercings. My lobes are done 3 times, but I don't really consider them anything special. They're just there. Anyway, I digress.

Before I went to work at Disney World I had my belly button and tragus done. I LOVED the tragus piercing, it was by far my favorite. Well, of course I had to take it out when I started working at Disney World. And it closed up. :sad1:

When I got my belly button pierced, I swore I'd never get it done again if it would ever close up. My belly button hurt worse than my tattoos and tragus (which was nothing, a piece of cake... Slept on it that night) and I was miserable for a month while it healed. I kept it in when I started working because I had on a regular costume, not a life guard suit. Needless to say, because the costumes at Disney aren't fit to flatter, the pants were SO HIGH UP that it rubbed against my belly button and I had to take the jewelry out. Now I'm belly button piercing-less and tragus piercing-less.

:sad1:

On the other hand, I guess it was a small price to pay for the chance of a lifetime!

AND!

The Disney Tattoo Guy lives 20 minutes from my house! I emailed him last night and am going to set up a meeting and tour his house!! :thumbsup2

The first time I got my belly button done I was 17. My BFF and I talked the guy into doing it and we decied I would go first because if I didn't I would probably chicken out. Well guess who didn't get it done...I wasn't mad at her though, I loved it. Unfortunatly it got infected at summer camp the summer bcause I really couldn't keep it as clean as it needed to be. I waited until I was 22 to get it done the 2nd time, I still have it 5 years later.

I have 3 in each lobe and 1 at the top of each ear in the cartilage.

That's so cool about being able to meet the Disney Tattoo Guy. Take pictures for us!

I thought I would post a picture of mine and my husband's tattoos. I have Eeyore on my ankle and Husband has Kermit playing a Ukulele. I know, Kermit plays a banjo, but my Husband plays the UKE and he loves Kermit!
Apparently I haven't earned the right to post pictures yet and I can't even post a link, so I guess you'll have to wait to see pictures.

I will be getting my next tat soon and I have a question for those of you who have gotten one recently, do you tip your artist or not? and if you do, what is the norm. The artist I went to last had a sign about tipping so I gave him $5, was that too much or what. The tat was $75. Is it based on amt of the tat or how happy you are with the result?
Thanks for the input!!

i tipped 20%. i liked the guy who tattooed me, i thought he did a great job and he was very nice. i figure it's the same as going to a restaurant. i wouldn't stiff that person, so why stiff tattoo artist? the guy i went to wasn't the owner though, so i'm not sure what to do if the person is an owner?

This summer I'm gettin my first tattoo and I've decided to get Steamboat Willie right above my right ankle. I can't wait:banana: I am sooooooooooooo excited!!!!!! Yay me:cool1: !!!!

I am not knocking anyone with tattoos, or even trying to discourage someone from getting one. I have several-I even have my eyebrows tattooed on.

And I really contemplated getting a Tigger tattoo, as he is my favorite character. But............and please don't flame me.......................

Be very careful when you decide what you want to put on your body for the rest of your life. Make sure you are still going to love it when your grandchildren ask you what it is.

I do have tattoos, but they are my kids eyes (all 4 of them) on my shoulder, a HUGE Lilith symbol in the middle of my back, and my kids names on my other shoulder, and I am getting my baby's footprints in the small of my back. I love them because they remind me every day that I love those little creatures and that they are the most permanent thing in my life.

Just be careful.

I always tip for a service. They are like hairdressers-they have to pay rent in the studio that they draw at unless they own it. I always tip 20%, unless I am not satisfied-and they had better fix it quick-that has only happened once, and I was unhappy with the shading, not the look. Now, it might sound high, but I also try to stay local when I get a tat, and if there is a problem, when you tip well, you tend to get the artist to help out for free, and they also cut you a deal the next tat, should you choose to come back to them. I live close to ATL, so it is easy to find a close tat artist that has national standing.

I give kudos to those of you who are brave enough to get a tattoo or tattoos. I'm just too chicken because I don't think I could tolerate the pain but I'd love to get one.

A friend of mine who along with is wife (whom I've known since I was 5 and she was 4) used to be character CM's at WDW. He at MK and she at DHS when it was MGM Studios. He often played Tigger and Eeyore. She did a variety but did Mickey the most. I actually got to see her play Mickey in the Fantasmic show when they were still working in FL, but that's beside the point. His mom got a tattoo of Eeyore on her upper back on the right side. I can't remember if his dad has a tattoo or not. I thought he did too but can't remember.

its not painfull. first , remember its there for life. second, it felt to me like sun burn for 2-3 days after. put it on a fleshy part (not bone) and you'll do fine. i have a m.m. on the side of my calf and i pass out going to the dentist. i hate needles. i went to wdw w/my family (who has since passed) since 1973. 5 years ago i wanted to do something to remeber the good times we always had there. the tattoo reminds me of that evey day. my dad was 6ft 3in ,280lb ex marine who turned into a little kid evey year when we went to wdw. so give it some thought and go for it!! :thumbsup2

I just *knew* there had to be a thread somewhere about ppls Disney tattoos! I have two non-Disney tattoos I got and am hoping to get a Stitch on my shoulder when I go to WDW next year. I'm only part way through the thread, but has anyone gotten their tattoo near WDW? Or did everyone get them done at home?

Amazingly enough, my DD is already planning her first tattoo and it will be Disney related. :D I have my doubts about her actually getting it done though. She has a real phobia of needles. :rolleyes1

We'll see. It would be cool if we both had Stitch tattoos. She used Stitch on a school project not too long ago. She had to create her own Coat of Arms using a mixture of old symbols and new symbols. She used Stitch to represent appreciation and acceptance of things/people that are unusual/different.

oh yes, it's here :thumbsup2 just been buried for a while. I actually considered getting my disney tattoo on my WDW vacation last year but did some research on it and a lot of people say either, don't do it on vacation or wait until the end of your trip because if you put the tattoo in a spot where the sun is going to hit it all day at the parks healing might be a little more painful than if you weren't in the sun all day. I got my tattoo done before I went to WDW in March. Maybe like a month before and walking around with it in the sun still wasn't pleasant. The sun just seemed to bore into it. But, there are tattoo shops very near WDW. Just do your research and make sure you don't go to one that is going to over charge you with it being a very touristy area and all.

That being said, that is so cool you and your daughter want to get stitch tattoos. If your DD wants it bad enough she will get over her fear of needles and go for it. That's what I did. Now I have no fear of needles at all. So, maybe it will help her overcome her fear. :thumbsup2

Awesome Tattoos guys!! I have two non disney ones, and I have been dropping strong hints to DH that I would love a disney one and that my Bday in next month...lol So if I do get one, I will be sure to post it!!

I ran in to George the Disney Tattoo guy at DTD last week and was excited to get some pics with him.

I have several non disney tats and I love the art, but I've been planning to get a day of the dead sugar skull for years, and now there are POTC pins sporting the type of skull I will be getting. I plan to take some of that design like the hidden mickey nose for my tat! As for pain, I sat 5 hours for my longest session yet and have about $2500 in my body art. A good artist will not be cheap and I am good friends with two artists. I hate shots and blood work but love tattoos, go figure!

Here is my first tattoo. It is only about 10 days old in the picture, so it looks a little shiny is spots. I took the POTC skull, added a hidden Mickey where the coin would be on the dangle, and added my DDs initials. I think it turned out pretty good.

That looks fantastic. Great idea on the hidden mickey :thumbsup2 thanks for sharing :goodvibes

I worked at WDW in 2005 and I saw a guy kind of like him, except he was much older looking and had Disney tattoos EVERYWHERE. His neck, ears, forehead....I promise you, this is no lie. Actually, when I was reading the posts about this guy, I went to the website because that's who I thought it was. Sadly, no. Oh well! I've often times thought about getting a Disney tattoo, I just don't know what and where.
