Disney taking over a reservation

Is it possible to call Disney and have them transfer over a reservation to them that was booked with a travel agent?

Most people move from disney to a TA..so they get a better price.

Are you ticked at your TA..why do you want to move the opposite direction.

Yes you can do this. I acutally had a reservation thourgh DCL then transferred to AAA. I was very unhappy with the response I was getting and before the 60 day payment arrived I called AAA and had them release the reservation back to DCL. Other than some reminders on how I wasnt going to get the AAA benefits they did it. By the next day I was able to call DCL and handle my reservation myself

Yep...I did it also, but you have to call your TA to release the ressie to DCL.

Do travel agents usually have a problem with this? Would it change the amount of money they get on the reservation etc?

If they are hesitant to do it is there anything I can say that would make them change it over?

worst case scenario is you book a new ressie directly with DCL, then cancel your original ressie with the TA. TA doesn't have to release or approve anything that way. The downside to that is that the DCL booking might cost more than the TA booking.

Travel Agents get paid a commission based on the $ amount of your reservation. They don't get paid for the number of times they give you a quote or by the amount of work they do for you. They don't get that commission from Disney until after your cruise and only if their agency is listed as the agency on the reservation, so yes it would change the amount of money your agent gets paid to zero. If you TA was giving you any kind of rebate, shipboard credit, or other gift for booking with them, you would not get this if you transfer your reservation to DCL. Did your TA do something wrong?

I wish I would have thought of this after I booked with Travelocity because it was a hassle dealing with them with the late vs early seating. They had to put me on hold while they called Disney, only to tell me they couldn't do anything. It ended up being a 45 minute phone call and a fax to their office which never resolved anything. It would have been nice to talk with Disney directly, but then again, we got a great rate and $50 on board credit which probably wouldn't have been the case had we tried to transfer directly to Disney. It ended up that the waitlist cleared for early seating, but we didn't find that out until we checked in at port. Travelocity had us listed for early seating in every e-mail and correspondence after I booked until the time the cruise was all paid for, then all of a sudden only late seating was available. Smelled an awful lot like bait and switch to me, but I can't prove it.
