Do you know if Disney Swan has mousekeepers? I know they are not owned by Disney but as they are a Disney friendly hotel and have a Disney store on-site at the Dolphn, i just wondered if it was worth leaving mousekeeping envelopes?
We have stayed at the Dolphin before but did not think of leaving envelopes.

Anyone know?:goodvibes

As long as you leave a tip, I can't imagine the housekeeping staff (even those at the Disney hotels) are bothered about it being in envelopes. This is one of those traditions which, I think, is a "nice to do" for the person giving the tip. The envelopes are only going to end up in the bin.

If you have kids its generally a good idea to leave about $5 a day as this can yeild towel animals. The reason for the mousekeeping envelopes are that Disney mousekeeping are not allowed to touch anything unless it is marked especially for them. If you just leave money they cant touch it. The place to leave it is on the pillow clearly marked for them, that where these little envelopes come in handy..I hope this helps:flower3:

Ok so they are not just for fun...Disney mousekeeping staff are not allowed to take anything unless it is clearly marked for them. If you just leave money they are not allowed to touch it. This is where the little envelopes come in handy. The rate is about roughly 3 - 5 dollars a day but of course is entirely up to you. It is normlly left on your pillow. I have heard that $5 a day can sometimes yield towel animals. It has worked for us in the past. Have a happy holiday ! :flower3:

I left money on the side table daily and it was taken everyday :confused3

We always leave money under the card that is next to the glasses with the maids name on. We leave our money every day and if we ever need anything we just leave a note with the money asking for whatever it is we need. I always think is is best to leave money every day as you never know when their shifts will change and this makes sure the person who has done the work gets their money :laundy:

I left $$ for them last trip and they did not take it, I put it in one of the GF envelopes as I did not make my own and I did mark Housekeeping on it.

I do know the reason for the mousekeeping envelopes as we have used them in the past, what i really wanted to know (don't think i was clear about this:flower3: ) is do the housekeepers (or mousekeepers) at the Swan do the same nice stuff as at proper Disney resorts, considering they are not owned by Disney but are owned by starwood. Think i will try leaving a mousekeeping envelope anyway just in case ;) Will definitly be using them at Coronado and we do not even have young kids, they're 22 and 17 but i'm the biggest kid of them all and i flatly refuse to grow up! :rotfl2:

Also we always tip $1 per person per day, no matter which hotel/resort we stay at, although if the housekeeping have been particularly good we leave a little extra :)

I've never read any reports of towel animals etc. at the Swan/Dolphin. As you say, the resorts are owned and operated by Starwood, not Disney.

You are correct...I have brain fog today..no mousekeeping, just housekeeping..they are not owned by Disney...duh..sorry. Maybey their rules are different.

If you would leave a tip at any other hotel you should at Swan/Dolphin, whether its Disney owned or not. You are tipping for service towel animals are a bonus.

We were there for 21 nights and left money every day loose by the phone and it was taken every day :confused3

We left $$, one for each adult, we had towel animals about 3 times in the whole of the 3 week stay but I thought they were the 'norm' nowadays ;)

LOL, in all my stays at Disney hotels, the housekeeping staff has never had any qualms about taking the loose money left out!

The first time we stayed at a disney resort the mousekeeper didn't take the money even though we put it in an envelope, we asked one of the mousekeepers if they were allowed to take tips and she said the lady that cleaned our room did not read English so we wrote it out in Spanish and voila! We had toys placed in funny positions, towel and facecloth animals etc etc... Magical memories :thumbsup2

This is why we still do it when we stay on-site, i'm a BIG kid :rotfl:
