Disney style and dining plans

What is your Disney vacation style?

  • Who needs food or drinks! We are going to see it all!!!

  • See as much as we possibly can without losing any limbs or any bodily harm.

  • See as much as we can at a relaxed pace. It is a vacation, not a military mission.

  • Oh, there are parks attached to these resorts?? We are only here for the golf, pools, and food.

We are a 7. We want to see as much as possible but part of vacation is food IMO. :cool1: We don't eat out a lot - once every 1-2 weeks usually so eating out on vacation is a special treat to me. I feel like the DDP give us the best of both a sit down meal every day and the CS that give us the flexibility tour during the day. We will rest if we need it, but we also have a plan. The longer the trip, the more relaxed we can be. Since we have 6 full days to do 4 parks that allows a little more relaxation especially since we're going in Sept. when it's not as crowded.

i guess i should vote in my own poll, huh?

i think we are: 12. See as much as we can at a relaxed (if that is possible at Disney) pace while enjoying a vacation. We are on vacation not a military mission. - DXDDP

SnipsNSnails - we are going in sept too!

11. We like to take in the non-ride stuff just as much as the rides at a relaxed pace. We may or may not do the DDP, but that's because we will be there for 2 weeks and I may get one AP and do TIW. But we have 1 TS per day scheduled.

By myself on my solo trips, I'm a 12 for sure. I just meander around, hop in rides and stuff as I feel like it and dine as I want to.

If I were going with more than just myself (and my mom for some of the trip), I'd likely step down to DDP or OOP (and would certainly do TiW if I were going twice in a year with an AP)

I'm a number 10. We go for 10 days so that would be to many adr's for us. We pefer the QSDP. I'm not into getting everything done since we will be back next year.:)

Since we go for 10 days we pretty much see everything x2.

7. See as much as we possibly can without losing any limbs – Regular DDP

That little bit of down time while we sit and eat (even if it is a character meal) revitilzes us to hit things hard again afterwards!

I just started your sept 09 blog! and i am so mad that i created my own dining plan calculator and wasted my time where i could have used yours!

Put me down as a "12". As an experienced cruiser who's not particularly keen on the hustle and bustle of CS, I do enjoy my meals (and I get very hungry when I'm out in the sun and doing a lot of walking).

At the same time, I am there to go to the parks and get the full Disney immersion. But I'm a good "park planner" so I know how to make the most out of the time available, without rushing too much or letting meals and rides get in each other's way.

We are 12's this time -although this trip has only two musts - see the princesses up close and personal while my little girls are little, hence the DXDDP, and see our son perform in front of the castle. Oh, and Soarin' - for mommy...

I voted for 5 but we're kinda a combo of 1 & 5 - We go until we drop but we also like to stop for a TS or 2 each day - no DDP for us - it doesn't fit our schedules at all...

We are most likely doing this. With small kids we need a break and I dislike trying to find a place to eat in the heat

We're a 12 this trip.

This is our third trip in 3 years (and I'm sure there will be one a year for the next few years) so we don't feel like we have to see everything although we'll be there for 8 days so I'm sure we'll see everything we want to see/do.

This is our first trip staying on property and using a dining plan. The past two trips we stayed at a condo and made all our own food. I'm really, really excited about not having to grocery shop, cook and clean up on vacation!!

We're a 12!
With little kids we like the flexibility of the dxdp. I like to not have to worry about character meals and have the ability to get room service on nights that the kids need to crash and be kids.

We've been alot so I don't feel the need to run run run. We enjoy eating out as a family and use it as a break from the heat of the parks.

That's us. We don't try to see or do it all - if we miss something on one trip, we'll just catch it on the next one. With 5 trips since 2005 and two more in the works for the near future, we're totally over any real commando impulse we might have had early on. Nice restaurants are part of the overall vacation/relaxation vibe, and are a big part of our enjoyment rather than something that "takes away" from park touring time.

Another 12 here:

Another 12 here. I think all the 12s are hanging out in the restaurant board, while the commandos are mostly in the Theme Park Strategies board. :lmao:

LOL! Good point! No need for those who don't eat to look at this board! They eat their food while standing in line! :lmao:
