Does anyone know when the DS in Columbia Mall will be reopening?

I'm assuming you mean the Columbia Mall store in MD. I was originally told it was supposed to reopen on June 23 but that has been here and gone. I believe they did interviews a couple of weeks ago but when I was there a week or so ago it was still closed. I usually stop by the mall every couple of weeks so if I see it open I will let you know.

There's no "official" word about using this at other locations yet. I guess we'll have to give the company a chance to see if the new design "works" and how guests like it, etc.

I'm just glad that they stopped using the previous designs that took away the "Disney feeling" and made you feel like you were shopping at the Gap.

I'm hoping the new design is good because I liked the Columbia Mall DS. It still had the different character scenes above the store which it appeared most of the stores had lost when they were remodeled. When I questioned a CM before the store closed she said that they may keep one or two of the scenes but that she thought most people would like the new design. Maybe I'll try to stop by on July 22 and give a report.

The Scoop did not state whent eh new stores were scheduled to open, but maybe some of us will take a cruise down to Columbi on august 2! thanks, April!

The store was open yesterday. They said the "official reopening" (whatever that means) will be Tues July 22. "Grand Reopening Ceremony" is Sat Aug 2, ribbon cutting w/ Mickey and Minnie, photo op with M&M in the mall in the afternoon.

argh! For a second I thought you were hinting that SC might actually get a Disney store again.....apparently the only one left in the state, in Florence, (not counting the outlet in Jonesville, which I don't know about either) has closed. I tried calling them the other day and their phone number was disconnected.

When we first visited here Columbia SC had 2 Disney stores...both are gone.

Then again, its probably just as well....the ones back in PA were depressing....

Lesley: Yes, the Disney Store at Magnolia Mall in Florence, SC has closed (about three weeks ago). There were Disney Stores at the Northwoods Mall & Citidel Square Mall in Charleston, SC - don't know if these are still open or not.

There is also a Disney Store Outlet at the Factory Stores near Myrtle Beach if you are headed that way.
