Just got an email from the Disney Store about the Snow White Limited edition designer doll. Clicked on the link and it says "Sold Out". HUH? Just got the email.

The dolls are selling out very quickly. I know our local store has sold out of Mulan and Bell before 1 on the Monday they are released. I was able to get the Cinderella doll and I am waiting for the Pocohantos to be released. I know that if you are on Facebook and friends with Disney Store, they announce Sunday who is going to be on sale on the following Monday.

It's getting ugly. People are buying two online, then going to the store and buying two more to sell on eBay. Snow White sold out the fastest yet (in hours with the site crashing a lot), and a lot of people had their orders canceled after getting confirmation. I heard some people leaked the product code and were able to order early. I've also heard of people buying them in the store and trying to sell them for $200 or more to people in back of the line.

I wish I bought Cinderella because the dolls hadn't caught on yet, but my DD wanted Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty, so I thought I'd wait. Now, I don't expect to be able to get her one at all, since people are taking this to a whole new frenzy that I'm frankly not sure I want to get involved in. She likes them a lot, but Disney Store has a new toddler doll line coming out, so maybe she'll be happy with a couple of those instead.

But, I am getting tired of the greed and wonder if it's the economy that's making things worse...

Does anyone know what the actual retail price is for these dolls? I'm seeing them on eBay for $200-$350. I was at my local Disney Store last weekend, and they had a whole shelf full of those dolls. I think they had most of the ones that have been released. Sounds like an opportunity to make some Disney money to me!

DH took DD2 to our the new Disney Store near us yesterday just to look around and they got to the mall around 9:30. He sent me a text that people were lined up outside the store and he couldn't figure out why....I told him I thought a new doll came out and maybe that was why. He started talking to another guy who had been there since 8:30 and was number 7 in line for the doll....they only received 14! Needless to say, they were sold out by 10:05!

At least it's a collector toy. So low stock is expected.

I'm getting tired of every year not being able to find simple items on my daughters xmas list because someone cleared the store to resell on ebay. I refuse to submit to that extortion and instead I tell her I'll buy that item for her after the holidays. 'Santa' leaves IOU's in my house.

The ones on display aren't for sale yet, and cannot be sold until that particular doll is released. Honestly, I don't think it's worth getting involved in this mess to make money. I'd only do it to make my daughter happy.

If you want to know more, I found a large thread on the Collectors Board. Getting one involves staying up until 3am and possibly having your order canceled or dealing with big crowds at the store and missing out because people are buying two at a time, with only 14-20 delivered to each store. There are so many problems, Disney Store is rethinking the process and will have more info on Friday.

We don't even have a Disney Store near us, so I have been buying everything online recently. It is nuts that they are selling them on ebay for so much when they only cost $59.00. Snow White was the only one I was interested in anyway. It's personal to me as my kids are boys.
