Disney Store Yorkdale

Wasn't it amazing?!?!?!!?! I want to say, possibly the best Batman movie ever!!!!

Glendon, you are going to have a wonderful birthay!!! :cloud9:

As for the soft opening being pushed back, I am glad we stopped into Square One today to utilize the 25% off coupon!!!! I am even more glad we did, because my DH picked up some Villians 3 vinylmations and got the chaser!!!!!!!!!!
OMG I hate you so much right now!!! LOL

I went to the Newmarket one recently and it was all the US stock. All price tags listed both the US price and Canadian prices and unfortunately, nothing is at par. Things priced at $12.50 American would be $14.50 cdn. I guess that's about a 15 percent mark-up on all stock.

That sucks, they used to do that with the old stores. One of the best Disney perches I ever made was getting Worlds Biggest Book store in Toronto to special order "Walt Disney's Railroad Story" instead of paying Disney shipping to send it to me. When I went to pick it up in the store there was a not on it to charge the US price instead of the Canadian one.

Do they still sell park tickets at par in the Disney stores?

No the ticket's are not sold at Par their is a markup due to the exchange. I usually just get mine at CAA now. Atleast there's a little bit of a discount but I have an AP this year. Loving the 10% off at Earl of Sandwich and all WDW Merch locations

So whose going tomorrow???????

We are!!!!!!!! I conviently scheduled a visit w/ family who live in Toronto to coincide with the soft opening.

I will of course!!! Nice and early for the opening popcorn::
They had the music playing a little bit ago, testing everything out. Best new store design I have seen, imo.

candielips, will you be there for opening?

Highwayinthesky, I will be leaving my home around 9am. So I shall be arriving there for 10am.

Can't wait (especially for Scarboro Town Centre!)....guess I will have to drop by Yorkdale after watching the Olypmic Opening Ceremonies on Friday...

Don't want to jam into the crowd Saturday! (and we see Mickey and Minnie on all our trips anyway!)

Baddog

I wsa there for 10:06am yesterday. I was so nice to see a disney store back in Yorkdale. I am super excited for Scarborough Town Centre as it is that much closer to me.
The store had the same big screen for watching Disney clips and a colouring area. I have to say that I like the castle area better at Square One.
The store is on the smaller side but very well laid out.
And for vinylmation collectors, they had the Under the Big Top series as well as Villians 3 and the some mini ones.

I'm surprised to hear ot's small considering it's supposed to be over 4000sq ft
Were they doing the Cinderella Blu Ray Preorder???

Really??? Maybe it was just the narrow layout???? Im used to wide open stores of Vaughan Mills and how the stores used to be at the Eatons Centre.
It was still really nice, don't think I'm hating. :upsidedow

I do not know about the Cinderella preorder. It wasnt offered to me if that answers your question at all.

Thanks for reporting back! Is it very similar to Square One then? Anyone else been ?

I had a chance to stop by Yorkdale to see the new store!

I've been to 3 of the new style of stores (Square One, Roosevelt Field, and Times Square) and I'm a bit confused by the comparison to Times Square. I doubt many on here have been to Roosevelt Field (Long Island, NY) but this store was pretty much identical to it! The outside of the store is pretty simple. Maybe I didn't take enough of it in but I saw a brick wall and a Mickey sign jetting out to the left. Walking up to the store I felt a bit let down. I guess I had expected video screens or something to that effect. Maybe someone can comment on the TS comparison? Maybe I missed something?

The store is locatd near Holt Renfrew (or the old Food Court). It's bigger than Square One, easily double plus but not nearly as big as I was expecting at 4500 sq ft. I guess I don't know what that looks like! :rotfl2:

When you enter, Toy Story and Cars are on the left with Princesses on the right. First a Cinderella display and then the "magic mirror" which the CM was trying to make work and seemed really frustrated by it. Down the right wall was essentially all princess one by one which held my attention since I have a DD. Further down the left wall was the gazebo with table/screen, beside that was the check out (almost completely at the back of the store). While I was there they had a "first visit" celebration with a light show in the gazebo. The back right corner had the plush displays and toys and the back left corner had toddler/baby wear.

The store was easy to navigate. I'm not a huge fan of the Square One store princess castle becaus the store is cramped and my DD wants to run around the display, I fear losing her. I liked that the mirror was just along the wall. I'm not actually sure if the Plush display had a tunnel or not, I'd also welcome it not being there!!!

Overall nice! I picked up DD a surprise for her to open tomorrow in line for Mickey / Minnie since I doubt we'll be getting in line then to visit again tomorrow. Can't wait!! DD keeps saying she's taking a plane to visit Mickey this weekend! LOL

Had fun at Yorkdale! I kinda prefer Square One though. My little lady got a Jasmine costume :)

I bought my DD a Jasmine Costume when were were there on Saturday as well! Super cute!

We ended up seeing Mickey, Minnie and the store but it was a day long event (we didn't bother to arrive for the ears). We heard CM's in the store talking and apparently some were so excited when Mickey arrived in the store that morning that they cried. I thought that was so sweet. I love Mickey too, I almost cried when DD saw him!!

When we were at the store we had a bit of a bad experience though. We were at the princess mirror and a woman with her two kids started grabbing the princess wand out of another kid's hand and was scolding her for it being her daughter's turn and to back off. It was pretty intense. I wanted to say something (wished a CM had been there) because the mother of the little girl who was being shoved aside didn't speak english. I didn't becuase quite frankly the woman (think Real Housewives of Yorkdale Mall) didn't look like the kind of person that was spoken to about anything.... ugh. Needless to say, she had the mirror to herself because we all left! This comes up a lot on here... why are people so stinkin' entitled? It's a store in a mall... and the kids were excited! It wasn't a ticketed event!

Something similar happened when we were there too, and I took my DD3 and backed off too. :furious: Not worth it, especially when you are trying to feel the magic in the Disney store! I know what you mean though, it is soooo frustrating. But also a good practice run for Disneyworld in Sept!!:rotfl:

We all know the type. Maybe Slice network has a new show idea here!!!! ;)

I really wish, instead of brining a new location inside the Eaton Centre, that Disney would open a Dundas Square/Yonge location that is not in a mall. It would be perfect to have a 2 level style store there, similar to Time Square.

I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to Disney stores. When or where is the Eaton Centre store re-opening?

Are there other GTA stores scheduled to re-open soon? I think I saw Newmarket mentioned?
