Disney Store Remodels

LOVE IT! I can't wait to see what they do. Another reason to head back to NYC

Yea! Times Square (I knew it HAD to be in Times Square!) :cool1:

If all of the mall stores renovate to this new model- it will indeed be fun again to visit the Disney Store!
Excellent news...Can't wait.:banana::banana::banana:

100 percent agree! I can't remember the last time I went in and actually bought something. Its always a huge disappointment.

they need to branch out to more types of merchandise..the art work and collectibles the old disney store had were amazing. You really got a sense you were at a wdw store when you went into the old disney stores, even the cast members who worked at the store were part of the experience..now its just a bunch of cheap clothes, sippy cups and stuff animals

We went this weekend there was nothing I wanted. :scared1:

I worked there on and off for the past 15 years and I am super excited for the remodels and it sounds great!! If only the stores could find great CM's to work them!

I totally agree. We had a Disney Store here that also had a Disney Gallery store attached. I LOVED that store and I still miss it. I hate to say it, but I doubt these new stores will have much adult merchandise, art or collectibles. I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like it will be kid merchandise focused. They still sound like they will be really cool, I'm just not getting my hopes up about what they stock it with.

:thumbsup2100%

I remember when the store used to have a wall of cells and limited edition posters. They used to have nice blank card sets that could be used for invitations, thank you cards, or just cards you send from time to time. There used to be unique merchandise that wasn't Walmart crap.

Back in the mid 90's we had a Warner Brothers store that was even better than the Disney store with adult targeted merchandise. There were watches and ties and props that were great.

I hope they remember that there are people over 3 that would like to purchase something in their stores.

I hope it works...

I still mourn the passing of our local Disney stores, but I know that in a way the way they originally marketed merchandise was bound to fail eventually.

You see, we're 'Diznoids'. We'll spend money on collectables and snow globes and lots of other Disney-related stuff... But, we make up a very small percent of the general shopping public.

Much as I enjoyed walking through the endless aisles of Snow White figurines and Disney designer watches, I rarely saw anyone actually *buying* them. No store can survive from people just looking at the merchandise.

If Disney stores come back, they will have to reorient their marketing approach to what most of us saw shortly before they closed. Much less marketing aimed at serious collectors, and much more aimed towards very young children, with unfortunately less than top quality products.

In other words, "cheap, um, 'stuff' ".

If they were smart they would have an area for birthday parties and do something special there. My boys are too old now, but I know people would like it.

I wish they would sell pins at the Disney store. I'm not a collector but I'm a preschool teacher and I like to wear them on my whistle lanyard to work. I have to wait to get to the parks to get a new character to wear.

i am very excited to see what the future will hold for TDS. They closed at least 2-3 stores in the DFW area, but I still have one within 5-10 minutes of me that i visited often just to get that disney feeling! We also have a great disney outlet nearby too. it definitely sounds interesting and has potential.
