Disney Store Pin Alert - New Date 02 09 02

WHEN WE WERE AT THE STORE ON SATURDAY OUR STORE MANAGER MENTIONED THAT THE PINS WOULD BE COMING OUT THIS COMING SATURDAY.

TODAY WHILE I WAS IN THE STORE SHE SAID IT HAS BEEN MOVED BACK TO NEXT SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9.

SHE ALSO SAID THAT THERE WILL BE NO RHYMM OR REASON TO THE DELIVERY OF THE PINS. IT WILL NO LONGER BE EVERY OTHER SATURDAY. THEY WILL HAVE THE PINS WHEN THEY ARE READY - I THINK THAT IS HOW SHE PUT IT.

SO NOW WE HAVE TO STOP IN THE STORE ALL WEEK LONG TO SEE IF THERE ARE GOING TO BE PINS ON THE WEEKENDS.

GEEZ.

SO ANYWAY, ANYONE PLANNING ON GOING TO GET PINS THIS SATURDAY - GOOD NEWS, YOU CAN SLEEP IN.

So now they are just admitting to selling them whenever they receive them and choose to do so.
Wonder if this has anything to do with TDS North America head honcho resigning and leaving soon.

My store told me they are putting them out when they get them in. They never received notice that last time to hold the pins back.

To me it's better...everyone has an equal shot of getting the pins. No lines, no fighting, just pins!!!!

I was just in tonight -- for pin trading night.
They got in more President's Day Mickeys. An off duty CM told me they had sold out. Looks like they still have plenty of every type of new pin here.
99.9% of the time I am the only one showing up for pin trading. So I even left my bag at home! And guess what? Still didn't need it.

My local Disney closed last week . So, yesterday I went to another local store (where they did not play nice last fall). There were no President's Day or Valentine's Day pins. When I asked about these two pins, the CM had to call backstage to ask another CM about the pins - sold out. Then I asked when the next set would come out since they pushed the 1/19 pins to 1/26 - another phone call backstage - new memo from homebase - 2/9/02. Let's just say I didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling at this store . It is a good thing I am not trying to collect all of the pins.

Just spoke with one of our super CMs at the Columbia, MD store.....

Next set of 100 Years of Magic pins have been postponed until Saturday, February 9th.

just curious... where's Nottingham Maryland? I live in MD. near an area called Nottingham, but it's actually located in PA. (I think!) It would be neat to have a pin collector "neighbor". I just started collecting.

NOttingham is near the White Marsh Mall - Perry Hall.

Does any of this sound familiar.

It is about 20 minutes from BAltimore City via I95.

Sigh! Wrong Nottingham. I'm north of you - 5 mins. west and I'm in Nottingham,PA, 5 mins. north I'm in Newark,DE. I really hope to get to either White Marsh or Gaithersburg just to see all your wonderful pins. White Marsh is less then an hr. away, but week nights are hard for me to go anywhere. I have to be at work at 5 a.m. !! I am so new to collecting but I seem to enjoy the pins from the various resorts at DW the most. Hope to see you all soon.

There is a large contingent of us pin collectors right in your back yard. Our next pin meet is at Franklin Mills Mall up I-95 at Woodhaven on Feb 24th. Hope you can join us. Look for postings by Chip and Dale or labeled Philly meet.

You should also try to meet the Maryland group. They're great. I was at a Tuesday night meeting down there in November and can't wait to get it into my travel schedule again.

Boy! I always say Disney people are the friendliest in the world but you "pin people" are super nice..... Franklin Mills is just a hop up 95 for me. Between that meet and the ones in MD. I will get to one for sure. Thanks for info on my DD's pin. BTW, it's MY pin now!! LOL!

I'm a CM at a DS in Michigan. It is true that for right now there is no ryhm or reason to which Saturdays the pins will be coming out. It was supposed to be every other Saturday, but they are having trouble getting them from the vendors in a timely manner - can't guarantee the stores will all get them at the same time. We are supposed to keep them backstage until we get notice from Homebase that we can put them out. They are still supposed to only go out on Saturdays - which Saturdays seems to be the million dollar question.

I UNDERSTOOD THE PIN DISTRIBUTION TO BE AS YOU SAID.

WHEN THEY GET THEM, THEY WILL BE PUT OUT ON SATURDAY, BUT WHICH SATURDAY THEY ARE NOT SURE.

OH WELL, I GUESS WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

The store I go to said they will put theirs out 02/09, which seems to be almost all TDS are doing.
One of these days, hopefully, it will be apparent you all work for the same company.

Thanks for the welcome!! We have almost all of our next pins and are also putting them out on 2-9. They are coming in pretty hit or miss. Some with our regular shipment, some Fed-Ex. Definitely not as organized as 100 Years of Magic. It's also hard to keep Part Time CMs informed as to what is going on. Some of our ladies only work a 4 hour shift a week (not a sinlge guy in the store - or married either for that matter. When guests come in with questions about the pins, they usually have to refer to management - unless they are into the pins themselves and keep themselves updated. With so many other things to fill them in on, many times pin info gets missed. Sorry The 12 months pins are not going over as big at our store as at others. 100 years pins were a MUCH bigger draw for us.

Out local TDS pins aren't selling as well as the YoD, or are they? It's hard to tell.
With the YoD, our local store carried anywhere from ZERO to 70+ (state pins) with an average being probably 12 - 15.
Now they are getting in LOTS of them. And even those sometimes get restocked. So it's hard to tell.
They have lots on the rack, but I think they have sold a lot too.
I think Disney made the mistake on the YoD of burning out the CM's and the guests both.
