Disney Store Outlet coming to NY state

Curious, does anyone know what type of outlet this store is going to be?

A TDS/TCP outlet? (TCP)
A catalog disneydirect outlet? (TWDC)
A World of Disney/NY outlet/WDW? (TWDC/WDW)

or

A private Disney outlet--those non-disney people who buy up bulks of Disney merchandise and travel to malls and set up temporary Disney outlets?

The Disney outlet in Delaware is in Rhehobeth Beach. This is a Disney Catalog/Disneydirect Outlet, which is part of TWDC.

I believe the outlet in NY is a Children's Place/Disney Store Outlet.

If the outlet is owned and run by TWDC, then they will honor discounts, i.e., DVC and CM. But if this new one if a Children's Place owned outlet, they will not honor any discounts and would only carry merchandise from the disney stores.

Okay, I just got back from the outlets and the Disney Store is open. I found it to have about the same prices/merchandise as my local disney store. They had several racks of adult T-shirts on sale in the back. I haven't been to my local Disney store in a while so I don't know if the sales going on in this store were at all the stores. They had 2 for $20 jammies and 2 for $25 beach towels. There were several 30% off signs through out the store. I bought a grumpy T-shirt for me for $5 a that's so raven dress for DD $19.50 (regular price) a stitch plush toy on sale $5(sign said on sale 7.99) a light up mini fan $5 and last but not least DISNEY DOLLARS Yes they have Disney dollars in stock!! The manager said they were leftover from her old store. So it was definitely worth the trip!!!

If you happen to go over there, and see the store manager LOIS, say hi and tell her Mike sent you. That should blow her mind. She transferred from the Disney store I work at to take over the new outlet.

I talked to Lois today and she says Hello!!!

Thanks, Coco, for the trip review. Sounds rather disappointing and not at all the 'destination' shopping trip I was hoping for. Did they have a great deal of merchandise? How large was the store? Did Lois offer any hope for significant mark-downs after a while?

Yes, but it was all stuff I had seen at my local Disney store (Albany, NY)

I just talked to the manager, their Grand Opening is Friday 3/25, they will be giving out balloons, mickey ears with any purchase over $100 and they do have Disney Dollars in all denominations!

It is very disapppointing that it seems they have the same merchandise and sale items as all the regular stores. I think in time that will change though. Rather than the stores having closeout items, they will sell them at the outlet.

Actually the DVC discount is still honored at the Disney Catalog/disneydirect outlets. These outlets are still owned by the Disney Company. You might also want to check the WOD store in NY too. They may also still honor the DVC discount. The Disney Stores (which are owned now by Children's Place) recently stop honoring the DVC discount.

Children's Place To Expand Disney Stores Into Outlet

GLENDALE, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. (PLCE) expands its Disney North America stores into the retail-outlet market with the official opening of its first outlet store in New York this weekend.

In a press release Thursday, the children's retailer said this is its first move in real-estate strategy since the company bought the unit from Walt Disney Co. (DIS) in November.

A Children's Place spokeswoman said the real-estate strategy refers to the company's view that outlets will be particularly successful for Disney stores, partly because outlet shoppers tend to be very brand-conscious.

The new Disney store will open at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets spanning more than 7,000 square feet. The grand opening is this weekend, the company official said, but the store has been open for business since its "soft opening" on Wednesday.

Children's Place plans to open 10 new stores this year, said the spokeswoman, and six of them will be outlet stores. Aside from the New York location, the company is slated to open outlet stores in California, Arizona, Illinois, Tennessee and Ontario.

The representative said there are currently 305 Disney stores in North America, and the company expects to grow that number to about 600 in the long- term. Out of those 600, she added, about 60 will be outlet stores.

Not overly impressed. They have the same merchandise as TDS and at the same prices. Lois explaned that in the future TDS will not have any big sales but all the items (like Easter and Christmas) will be sent to the outlet.

I'm dissappointed to hear it's the same stuff I can get at my local Disney store!

I just also wanted to add that the WOD store in NYC does honor the DVC discount. DH was just there and he got the 10% off.
