Disney Store in Halifax

Whaaaaaaaaaat?!?

I was just in there last week and they gave no indication that they were closing!

I was there early last week, too, and no evidence of closing but I did call the store this morning to get some details. They are closing as soon as the stock is gone which could take 2-3 weeks. :confused3

This really bites! It is way too expensive to order from Disneystore.com and I'm never in Ontario so the only way I'm going to get official Disney merchandise is in a Disney park, at most once a year. I know they have been closing stores across the board, but is this strategy really the best way to circulate the brand????? :headache:

NO!!!!

Now the closest Disney Stores will be in Ontario or the US!!!! It was so sad when they closed the Moncton one, but now Halifax too!!!!:headache::sick::sad2:

Thanks for letting us know. I will be going over tomorrow.

Will be sad to see them close.

Wow, really? They never seem to want for customers. And they have the nicest staff members, I'm sorry they'll have to look for work. :(

I was coming on here to post this, it is so sad!

I was talking to the manager, and he said that they won a trip to California and an award for being the #1 store in North America. He was really confused about it... :sad2:

Went in today to buy bambi. Although everything is 25% off, certain items are no longer available such as Movies and Vinylmations. The only deal they have on now is 25% as well (last week they had a deal on mugs etc). Its sad to see the store go :(

I was in there today and it was not a magical experience. The staff were still very upbeat and great but the store looked like a ghost town....limited selection of things. I bought an Eeyore mug and a key charm and something for my new little niece or nephew that will be born in September but that is it. I was so sad leaving the store. When my girls were young I bought their Halloween costumes there....always got good deals at Christmas and now it will all be gone. :(

Oh no! This store helped me get from one WDW visit to the next! Now where will I go for my Disney fix...lol.

:sad1:
Moncton store closed, now Halifax. I know we CAN order from the Disney Store online, but until they give Canadians some relief with the shipping charges, it's not very budget friendly.

nooooooooo!!!!! here my friends been complaining about loosing theirs up in ottawa for ages and now were loosing ours? not cool! i bought once from the website and between shipping and then duty, it wasn't worth it.

This is disappointing, I only just visited this store and the very end of last year, and it was such a nice, big one. They are re-designing a lot of the Disney stores, perhaps this is one these cases and another will open up some time in the future. There's an article about it in the Disney Store blog.

I have been missing the Disney Store here in Moncton for the past 5 years now! We never get down to Halifax, but when/if we ever did that was our first stop. we flew out of Manchester NH last year heading to DW and stopped at the Disney Store there. Seems a far ways to buy Disney products. What a bummer. We've been hoping to get our Disney Store back for quite some time. Hasn't happened yet. :(

They don't seem likely to reopen the Moncton store now with the Dartmouth store closing. It's just maddening that they are closing this store with nothing reasonable to replace it. Certainly no other store in driving distance and the Disneystore.com with outrageous shipping charges. So disappointing!:headache:

We just went to this store and it was disappointing. It may have been 25% off, but off of very steep prices. And the difference between the US and Can prices on the merchandise was crazy, esp. with our current exchange rate. We left empty handed. Maybe they are closing because sales are down due to people being smarter with their money. Despite the shipping charge, there were the same items for $16.99 that were $2.99 on sale on the website.

That's how I felt.... but somehow I managed to spend over $150 anyways! I guess since I drove all the way from PEI I wasn't about to leave empty handed. Have you ordered from the website before?

i spent 150 there this weekend too. snagged dd the last size 5/6 ariel costume, right place right time. the cm was going to get the hook to pull it down and mentioned the size....i didn't budge! lol

i've ordered from the website and not only did the shipping rates blow so did paying the duty on the item when it arrived at my door. i was speaking to ann there on the weekend, god love her, shes taking 3 weeks to go to europe and then 3 to spend at disney. she mentioned that a bc store is being re-opened after it closed however long ago-18 months i think? so there's always a glimmer of hope, altho not big. but ya think they wouldn't alienate their canadian customers so much. the way i see it just means ill have to convince hubby to go to disney more often!
