Disney Store Gift Card

I have a Disney Store Gift Card. Can this be used at WDW anywhere? If not, can I use the gift card to buy Disney Dollars? Thanks for the input!!

A Disney gift card can be used through the catalog, on-line or at the stores. It can not be used anywhere at WDW.

You can use the gift card to buy Disney Dollars and use those at Disney World. I had to do it last month when my boss gave me one for a bonus. Help this helps.

I've tried to use one to buy disney dollars a few times at two different disney stores in my area and was told that I could not, so I would call and ask first. Some stores apparently let you and others do not.

I have used gift cards several times to redeem for Disney Dollars. I have done this at 2 different stores. Tell them to look at the back of the card, the exclusions are listed there and they will notice that Disney Dollars is NOT listed as an exclusion.

YES...you can buy Disney Dollars with them - I did it 2 weeks ago!! I had been given $1400 in Disney Store Giftcards (over time...) and I ordered a luggage set and got about $1300 in Disney Dollars - I'm going to use them to pay for my room in December (I'm an AP holder - I'll use my debit card for the deposit, and use my Disney Dollars to pay the balance).

I am thinking about canceling my BankOne Disney Visa after my trip. I got a Disney gift card when I signed up. The girl told me I could absolutely use it in stores at WDW, but now that I have the card, it doesn't look like I can (and some of you have said I can't as well). Why don't they just admit they don't know when you ask something like this?????? ARGGHH. It has been nothing but aggravtion since I got it. Oh well, I am going to try for Disney Dollars too! Thanks for the tip.

I just tried to use a gift card to buy Disney Dollars on Tuesday and was told I couldn't do that. Maybe I'll try again with another sales clerk next time.

That is what I tried to tell them, but it does say something about not redeemable for cash and they said that disney dollars are the same thing as cash so they refused. There is one more disney store in my area that I may still try. If not, I'm sure I can still pick up a few treats for my kids there instead.

Are you sure what you got was a "gift card"? I know I've seen a promotion lately where DisneyVisa gives you 25 REWARD DOLLARS. They are 2 different animals so check what you have. The reward dollars would also be on a plastic card, like a credit card, and WOULD be redemable(sp?) at the parks. If you do in fact have a reward card, don't throw it away after you've used it!! You will need it to transfer any points/rewards you've accrued on your account.

Yes, sadly, I am sure! It is a $15 Disney Store gift card & states on the back it is only good at Disney stores, Disney store catalog & a 1-800 number. I missed out on the $25 rewards promotion.

Yes, Disney Dollars are LIKE cash, but they are not cash - You can exchange cash for Disney Dollars, but you can't exchange Disney Dollars for Cash (this is what the manager at my Disney Store told me). That's why you can use DS Gift cards to buy Disney Dollars - and you can also use cc's to buy disney dollars too.....

Maybe I'm wrong though...my local disney store won't exchange disney dollars for cash....will Disney World do that? I'd love to know, because it looks like I'll have about $600 in Disney Dollars left over after paying for my room in December (I won't use them for much - I have vouchers for food, and my last trip I spent MAYBE $100 on souveniers)....

You can change Disney Dollars for cash at WDW. Go to geust serivces in any of the parks and they should be able to do it for you.

As for the Gift Cert I have been told it can only be used for merchandise which excludes the Disney Dollars. It is like using a gift cert to buy a gift cert.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to buy a gift card with a gift card. You would wonder why you would want to do that, but we had a $50 Best Buy gift card and wanted to give $25 of it to someone as a gift. Best Buy let me buy a $25 gift card with my gift card, leaving $25 on my original gift card. I have also been able to use Toys R Us/Babies R Us credit to buy gift cards to give as gifts. It seems like it doesn't make any difference to the store since by putting gift cards in the hands of more people, it brings more people in the store and typically a customer will spend more than the balance of a gift card. Even though I was told I couldn' t use my Disney Store gift card to buy Disney dollars, I bought some anyway and was told that I could return any unused Disney dollars back to the store. I'm not sure if I would get cash back for them or store credit or what though?

The store at DTD is not part of the Disney Store chain. It is the World of Disney store, owned and operated by WDW.

As for exchanging Disney Collars for cash at the store, you must have the original receipt. However, effective May 2 the Disney stores have a new return policy and I think it states no returns on Disney Dollars. I don't know if this will chang at WDW also, but I doubt it.
