I wasn't sure where to post this, but I was just wondering if you work in a Disney Store do you get CM discounts on Disney trips and stuff, or since its owned by the Childrens Place you don't? :confused3

When I bought my AP voucher at TDS in Feb of this year, I was chatting with the CM about the trips I had planned and how much I love WDW. She said, "Then you should get a job here! We get discounts and some free tickets!" I think this was after Children's Place took it over. Any TDS CM's out there that can talk about their benefits? I would love to hear about it!

I used to work for TDS until September last year. When TDS was still owned by TWDC, discounts were nice. They mailed you free tickets (and at one point even gave you free admission), you got 50% off the resorts, and your TDS discount would apply to the restaurants, souvies, and *some* CS places. Those discounts were based on the discount you had at TDS (CMs employed 1-3 yrs got a 20% discount...3 years or more got a 35% discount).

When The Children's Place took over, A LOT Of things changed. TDS CMs no longer received discounts in the parks. We still received 3 free tickets, but instead of being mailed to us (in which case we could give them to whomever we wanted and they were good for about 2 years), we now had to fill out an application of sorts to get them and had to show up at the park with our work ID (because only we were allowed to get them)...had to be currently employed and they expired at the end of the calendar year. That bummed a lot of people out since many TDS CMs liked to save them for a trip the next year or whatever (i.e. four 1 day PHs per year...2 sent twice a year...that's four days for one person..so save that for the next year...you now have 8 days for one person). The new way just made it more difficult for people. Still generous, but not as flexible. Managers received a different type of ticket...the Purple Pass. I can't recall how that one worked.

As far as I know, there's nothing new to that. I visit TDS every couple of weeks or so to say hi to my friends. The lead CM is going to WDW in October and didn't receive any discounts. One of the assistant managers was complaining about disneyshopping.com because they don't allow TDS CMs to be a part of it, even though they are not even part of the TWDC anymore. In fact, even if they quit and worked for a new company, the fact that they are a former CM disqualifies them. The asst manager was saying how TWDC employees can still get a discount at TDS, but they won't even acknowledge TDS employees. The whole discount thing left a lot of CMs bitter.

Unless things drastically changed in the last couple of weeks since I last visited TDS, the word from that particular store's managers is that they still do not honor a TDS discount...it's only the 3 free tickets (which is still better than nothing).

Oh don't I know it. I've never met a CM who had been employed during the changeover who was actually happy about what happened. Several of our employees quit within a week or two of the change. I wound up quitting about a month after I got back from my trip...just long enough to get my tickets, use them, and then get away from TCP.

Do seasonal employees get tickets? I have often wondered if it would be worth it to do the Xmas thing. So sad that TDS is no longer Disney-owned.

It was most likely set up so it doesn't work in the favor of seasonal cast members. You need to be employed for 90days before the tickets are available. Then you have to request them a few weeks before your actual trip. And as mking264 stated, you also need to be currently employed by the store to use them.

Current TDS CMs still only get 3 one day passes a year. And seasonal employees do not qualify. You have to order the tickets something like 45 days in advance. My upcoming trip will be the first trip in 10 yrs that I haven't had the discount to use. One trip I spent a total of about $500 including room, food and souvies, for a four night trip for 2. Those days are over! :sad1: I am really going to miss that discount on this trip.

employee discounts arent the only things that changed......hate that place now.

LOL I worked for TCP for 1/2 a day beofre i went to lunch and never returned. I can totally see why so many are unhappy. They are just very unfriendly to employees. When i interviewd there i was offered a Supervisory position, and they said that matching my current salary of 10.00 and hour would be no problem. I gave my notice at my old job, showed up at TCP, only to find out that my new salary was not 10 but 7 per hour and i was not a supervisor at ALL I was a door greeter. I was also told that i would have the last lunch at 3:00PM becaue i was new. Wheres the fairness in that??? So i left at 3 and never came back. I was so upset when i found out about TCP taking the DS over. I've boycotted TCP since that incident but i can't abandon my DS!!!
