Disney Store Burlington Mass Closing !

We loved that Disney Store also, they had the best collectibles. But the original closings are our fault because we obviously didn't spend enough in the stores to keep the items that we wanted to buy. Disney only sells what is actually selling to maximize their Return On Investment. If we were buying collectibles, snowglobes, and home items they would continue to sell them. Apparently the only thing selling in the stores was toys and children's clothing. They seem to use the stores now as Movie Premiere outlests to sell what upcoming movies that are coming out in the movies, and what movies will be released on DVD.

The Children's Place does not own, or run the Disney Store's any longer. Disney took ownership back June, 2008. Children's Place was faced with Bankruptcy because of the burden of having to remodel the stores to the agreed upon Disney way, and leases that they were saddled with were way to too expensive and lengthy to continue. So if you have a problem you need to voice your Opinion to the Disney Stores not the Children's Place.

You are responding to a post that is a year and a half old...the thread has been revived because a new store is opening in Burlington...

The "Natick Collection" as it's now known is gigantic - and has quite a few empty locations. And speaking of unorthodox layouts...Burlington is positively normal in comparison...following a map it looked like we needed to take a turn somewhere that there wasn't one...

I know, it's absurd! I miss the old mall before they tried to make it all upscale and bring in a new crowd... I don't even go in the new part, too ritzy for my blood

I know what you mean. I walk into that place and just feel like I don't belong there. Like its too good for me or something...

OT- Didn't they shoot "Mall Cop" there?

Mall Cop was shot between Burlington Mall and the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Mass.

I hope Burlington brings back the Disney Store look like it used to before (A) they were sold to Hoop and (B) before Hoop made it look like crap. Our store (in South Shore Plaza) still has the "hoop" look (i.e., not what a true Disney store should look like).

Hopefully Disney will bring these stores back to their original splendor. And, BTW, I really, REALLY miss the Disney Gallery on Route 9 in Natick!! That was the most awesome store!

Has anyone checked out the new store? I haven't had a chance to get up there yet. :sad1:

We went to the NEW STORE last weekend! There was a table set up near the mall entrance (if you go in by Uno's) where they were giving away 20% off an item coupons...the store itself was on the smaller size, but I had gone to the Disney store in Braintree the night before and they had the same sales -40% off MMC clothes and accessories, 40% off Handy Manny clothes & accessories etc. Anyway, I picked up a couple of t-shirts for my son, and some Disney Dollars.

It's good to have the store back!

Great news to have your store back! :cool1: Our store in Bridgewater NJ was closed a few months ago! :sad1: I miss getting my Disney fix!

I went to the store today...definately a different and simpler set up. Is this the new set up for new stores?? It almost looked like shower curtains on the walls that had the disney images on them.

I miss the days of the downstairs w/champs is location...with all the characters hanging from the celing, but boy...they were a pain to clean!!! Don't miss that duty, even with a duster.:rotfl:

Anyone know anything about the Disney Store in Burlington, MA reopening? From the sounds of this, we are getting a new Disney Store in the area. Thoughts?

I saw this on D23 press release:

Disney Store Member Mixers
Since 2013, D23 has given members a peek at reimagined Disney Stores across the country—from Kansas and Nevada to Michigan and Texas. This year Disney Store will once again invite D23 Members for exclusive mornings of shopping, discounts, games, and goodies at new locations in Riverside, Calif., Lexington, Ky., Raleigh, N.C., Burlington, Mass., and many more.

I haven't heard anything yet, but there isn't really one in this area at all now...

Man, I hope the one in Virginia Beach is staying open. I buy DW a Christmas present from "Plush Mountain" every year!

Disney Stores in Simon Malls have been closing as leases expire a lot lately (Jersey City, NJ, Marlborough, MA are two that come quickly to mind). In both cases the mall managers have said that due to Disney's deal with JC Penney to have Disney boutiques in store, they agreed to remove Disney Store competition. Not sure how true this is, but both mall managers said the same thing and neither are near enough to each other to have shared notes.

It's probably part of it at least. Disney was looking to close a number of stores regardless due to low sales and high rent costs. JC Penney also would rather have exclusivity at their locations.
