I am thinking of purchasing some Disney stock since the price is pretty low right now. I only want to invest about $500 though and to go through Disney directly you have to have a minimum of $1000. Does anyone here own Disney stock and is it a good investment in their opinion, also what is a good online discount broker to use. I've been looking online and they all have fees for different things. I want to keep it in there long term. Thanks

DH bought me a few shares for Christmas one year. He told me he wanted to give me part of the Land. Now when we go he tells me "I gave you all of this!" I can tell you it is not making any money. He bought it 3 years ago at $27 a share and I only made about thirty cents a share!! It actually went down to $25 a few months ago. I don;t mind since I knew we only have a token amount and mainly to get it the cool framed share to hang on the wall!

Thanks, I don't expect to make a lot from it, but I figure the price of it should go up quite a bit from where it's at now and in the meantime I get get about $6 in dividends while I wait...lol

I buy my stock from Sharebuilder and have been very pleased with it. Disney also has a DRIP, or used to, so that could be a possiblity.

I have been a stockholder for many years. Once you buy at least one share Disney gives you the option to re-invest your divident to buy more shares rather than receive a check. And you can also buy any future shares directly thru Disney and do not have to pay any broker fees!! It is called a D.R.I.P. (divedent re-investment Plan. I have not made bank, but it is fun to own a piece of the MAGIC!!!

Thanks for all of the great advice. A friend told me about zecco.com so I am trying that. takes so long to set up though, have to wait for the money to clear. Hope the stock doesn't change too much in the meantime. I looked into buying directly from Disney but they had a minimum of $1000 from what I was readind and I only wanted to invest about $500. I do own one share of stock that I purchased from oneshare.com and now wanted to buy some more.

We bought 50 shares for our DD. It was up for the last couple of years, but now is below our purchase price. We didn't buy it for it's investment value but for it's nostalgic and sentimental value.

Yeah I'm looking to do it for a little of both. If I was really only concerned with making money I'd probably avoid Disney as I heard it's not the greatest investment, so I'm kind of investing with my heart. But I do think if I get it now it will increase in value over the years.
